Transferring games on a hard drive between consoles

I own a Xbox One, and have been downloading the 'games with gold' content, even though I did not find them appealing. However, this Christmas, I am intending to buy my daughters a Xbox One as well, and I would llike to transfer the aforementioned games,
as my children might enjoy them more. I understand that because I never purchased them, I won't be able to download them directly from the store. Is there a method to connect the Xbox Ones to transfer data, or is it possible to copy the games onto an external
hard drive, to transfer between consoles (would this format the drive when connected to the second Xbox One?)?

The License Transfer tool is for transferring your licenses between two consoles that you own, like you buy a new console or get a new hard drive, so that you keep access to all of your games. It is not for transferring your licenses to a friend's console.

 

Xbox One and One X Will Allow Data Transfer Over Local Network

Keeping the second console is all the more reason to use a hard drive. Keep your games on the hard drive instead of on both consoles. They added the ability to copy all games from a hard drive, so it's not multiple transfers. It's one single transfer.

 

Transferring the games with the hard drive will be working, but you need to remember to add your own profile to the new console of your daughters, set it as your home console and then set up a family and add your daughters to to, so they are eligible to
play the games you purchased already. They also will be able to use the benefits of your gold subscription, so you do not need an additional gold subscription for them. You do not need to be logged in on their console once this is set up. With this setting
you will still be able to play your games on your own console. But don't set your console again as your home console then, as then this would take the eligibility to play the games away from your daughters.

Additionally: the games you purchased once, and I think this is also with the GwG games, appear as "ready to install" in the games and apps section. And this also for the other family members once the console is setup properly.
