    Transferring Games Between External Hard Drives with PC


    I have an external hard drive attached to my Xbox One that I think is dying. It has had difficulty loading and installing games lately, and on a few occasions, the Xbox would not turn on while the hard drive is attached.

    If I buy a new external, and attach it to the Xbox One for formatting, can I then attach both externals to a PC to move all of my data from the old to the new?

    No. Xbox files are not meant to be seen on a PC.

    Your answer is why I posted here. I asked one of the 'expert gamers' via the chat option and they said yes.

    I just swapped USB ports on the console and plugged the external back in and the Xbox booted with no issues, finished installing Little Nightmares, and loaded a game from the external.

    I'm still leaning towards this being an external issue, but now I'm wondering if my Xbox is entirely healthy.

    The transfer cable won't work that way. The system is set up to only see that to transfer data between Xbox hard drives. You would need a 360 hard drive attached (if games require them) or you can use and external USB hard drive or flash drive and redownload
    the games to that.

    Getting new xbox 360 concern:

    There's not a cord that connects a 360 to a PC to transfer files. You would need to save them to a flash drive or external hard drive.
