Transferring game saves + data from old Xbox 360 to new one?

Hey everyone,

I need help. I have the old white Xbox 360 (I think it was the "Pro" version that was released years ago) and it's starting to show signs that it's about to die, such as random freezes, loud fan noise, and 10-15 second delays when powering down. So just
in case, I plan on buying a new Xbox 360 (the 250GB "E" model here). My question is,
how will I be able to transfer the game saves and data from my old Xbox 360 to the new one?

Any USB stick can transfer data from one hardrive to the other, i remember transferring my resident evil 5 save from my old xbox to my new xbox.

Can I put 360 saves on the cloud from my Xbox One to another Xbox One?

You have three options...

Use a transfer cable. I believe they're about $20 but only buy a MS one if you go this route, third party ones tend to damage HDDs

Memory unit or formatted USB drive

Cloud storage (saves only) and re-download your DLCs and games.

I did a quick look-up and there are some people claiming that they couldn't get the transfer cable to work with the hard drives from their old Xbox 360's (the fat white ones, which is the one I have).

It works I did that with my old one.

Just make sure you don´t move it when you move the data.

Check your current drive if there is any corrupt file.

If there us, delete it.

If there is none you should be fine.

Corrupt file have a yellow exclamation.

That would be the one. They most certainly work since that is what the cable was designed for. Personally I'd just invest in a 32 GB flash drive and use that then perform a license transfer. You can always leave the flash drive in the new console for
additional space or use it on a PC/MAC.

To clarify further, the
Network Game Transfer would only transfer the games and apps from the old console to the new console; other data like profile data and save data is attached to an account's profile and backed up to Xbox Live. To redownload the save/profile data for an account
in a particular game, just launch that game from the console while the account is signed in and connected to Xbox Live

You can always use the transfer cable to move your data from the old hard drive to your new one. This would also save your saved games. If that is not an option you may need to use the license transfer on the xbox website.

When you download your profile to installed it in a new xbox, the save data, applications, demos, DLC and games are not transfered.

Save games can only be transfered using a usb stick to copy them from the old xbox into the new one. DLCs, games and apps can be downloaded again with no charge using your account history.
