transferring game progress into kids account now that it is set up

I have the exact same issue. Unfortunately, this cannot be done as you cannot transfer save game files between profiles.

What I did with my son was have him start any new games while playing on his profile. When he goes back to Lego Superheroes 2, he logs in with my profile. It will take a while but eventually he will "outgrow" my account.

You can create a child account on your current parental account. You can not transfer games, saved progress etc. You can set the parental account to Home Xbox and the child account would have access to the games but not the saved progress.

It is not Microsofts fault that a child account was not set up.

As WPAK stated there is no way to set up the screen time or any of that for an adult account. As for transferring the items be careful with that, if you are wanting to transfer everything like games, dlc, progress they wont transfer.

I take it I can not transfer the Xbox profile to another Microsoft account? As a parent that set up the game when my kids were young, it should be transferable once the child comes of age.

So is it possible then to delete gamer tags /Minecraft profiles and restart completely so that they can use their current emails? Or will that screw up my Xbox account?

You cannot transfer history on another account...

But you can leave this account to your kid and set as a child account, then make a new one for you and set a family so that you can control the kid account...
