Transferring from disc to digital download

Hi,

The only difference between a digital game and a disc game is how the game is delivered to the system. Discs installs (with a downloaded update) and a download is just, well a download. All the console cares about is the license and whether you own it digitally or not. The game itself will be the same.

If you already have the game installed from a disc and purchase the digital download there should only be a very quick download for the license. You shouldn't need to download it again. You don't need to uninstall it.

Were the games you are transferring digitally downloaded to your account or did they come from discs? It could be that or maybe they aren't backwards compatible yet.

Just as an addendum - if you install a game from disc it will download the updated/patched digital version anyway. You just have to keep the disc in the drive when you want to play it, as proof of ownership.

You can't transfer disc ownership to digital because people would just abuse it and buy a new game on disc, claim the digital version and then sell the disc again.

One thing I 4got, and it's very important...sharing ur games like this only works if u originally bought the game in digital form. I.e. From the xbox or MS store to download. Disc based games won't work for this...as ull need a disc for each box u have.
With digital downloads, they transfer from one box to another...
