Transferring digital games from one xbox to another

Hello all,

I purchased an xbox one sometime ago with some games already installed, I have always left the console as the previous users 'home xbox' so that I have access to these games. I am thinking about updating to a slim and am wondering if there is a way I can
transfer those games over to my profile so I can install them on a new xbox?

I guess what I am trying to find out is if there is way to transfer the digital rights of a game from one profile to another?

An idea that went through my head, was to uninstall the games on his old profile then re-install them on my profile, I then make the xbox my "home", before signing in and setting up my new console. I just don't know if I will get access to those games or
not?

Anyone tried this, or have another work around?

Question About buying a Xbox

The transfer cable is only needed for transferring data from one hard drive to another. So if you were transferring your game saves from your old xbox hard drive, then you would need a transfer cable or flash drive. Otherwise, you can just follow GreyPilgrim's
advice and you'll be all set.

 

Transferring from one system to another

If the console that you dropped was a slim console then you just need to move the hard drive to the new console.

If it wasn't then you'll need to get a new hard drive and transfer cable (official microsoft, not 3rd party) and transfer the data to the new console.

Don't forget to do a license transfer to the new console as well.

You can also redownload content from your download history. This can be accessed from the console by going to System>Accounts>Download History. If your console is an older version and you don't want to get a new hard drive and you have a friend who has
an older system you can plug your hard drive into their console and move your game saves to the Cloud service for easy transfer.

 

Nothing can be transferred between accounts. The actual owner would need to sign into your new console and set it as their Home console or you would need to purchase the games on your account.
