Transferring content to new Xbox one

I'm wanting to buy a new Xbox one and give the old one to my son.

Ive got several games on the one I'm using now that I would like to transfer over to the new Xbox, but also a couple of kids games that I would like to keep on there for my son.

Is this possible and if so, what are the steps?

Transfering content license

When i transfer content licenses from my old console to the new one, do i have to delete the downloaded content i'm transferring before i re-download?

How to move multiple items at once

You can easily move multiple items between storage devices using the Transfer Content option. So, if you purchase a new console, you can move the contents of your old Xbox 360 console to the new one using the Transfer Content option and the Hard Drive Transfer Cable.

Notes:

During the content transfer, the Xbox Dashboard will be unavailable.

If any problem occurs during the transfer and the transfer is interrupted, the content will remain on the source storage device. You can start the transfer process again.

How to transfer multiple items

To transfer multiple from one storage device to another, follow the steps bellow:

From Xbox Home, you need to go to Settings to select System.

Press Storage.

You need to highlight the storage device containing the content that you want to transfer. Now press Y for Device Options.

Press Transfer Content.

You’ll have to select the destination storage device

You’ll also have to select the content type that you want to transfer.

Finally press Start to begin the transfer.

If the destination storage device doesn’t have sufficient space, the Space Available bar will appear red. Then you’ll have to reduce the amount of content you are transferring.

Here is how:

First you need to select content type

If you want to remove all items from the content type, press X

If you want to remove individual items, press A to view the items. Then select the item or items and press A again. You need to press B to return to the previous screen. Finally select Start to begin the transfer again.

When you purchase content it is tied to your account, so once you get the new console and sign in, your games will be listed in your games and apps ready to install. If you leave your current console set as your Home console, your son will still be able
to access games you downloaded on that console.

You need to pick up a transfer cable to transfer the content from your old xbox to the new one. Simply recovering your GT to the new xbox will not transfer all of your content.

Yes, you can change your Xbox One account to a new Xbox Series X with a different email address. Here are the steps to do so:

Create a new Microsoft account: Go to account.microsoft.com and create a new Microsoft account with a different email address. This will be your new Xbox account.

Transfer content: On your Xbox One, go to Settings > System > Backup and restore. Select "Back up to the cloud" and follow the on-screen instructions to transfer your content to the new account.

Download transferred content: On your Xbox Series X, sign in with your new Microsoft account and download the transferred content from the "Ready to install" section of your Games & Apps.

Deactivate your Xbox One: Go to Settings > Accounts > Xbox One, select "My Account," and then select "Deactivate this Xbox." This will deactivate the Xbox One and prevent anyone from using it with your old account.

You will need to do a content license transfer to transfer all of the content licenses from the old xbox to the new one. Find the steps how to do this here

I would suggest when it is time to do the transfer just move your current profile onto a USB.

Transfer all content from old Xbox to new Xbox. When that's finished delete the profile from new hard drive and transfer most current recovered one from the USB back onto new Xbox.

Nothing should go wrong as the license transfer itself allows you to play all your old content on your new Xbox, its fairly easy and straightforward to do.

Some content you may have to re-download on your new Xbox in order to play offline.
