Transferring content to a designated "Family" Gamertag

We bought some games through the Xbox Live store for my son on my account. Now he's old enough to have his own account with his own GamerTag, and I've designated him as "Family" attached to my account.

How can I transfer the games I bought on my account, to my son's account (so he can play them on a second console)?

Change Secondary Acct. with Primary Acct.

You can't the primary is only designated at the creation of the family plan

Which is the purchasing gamertag

You would Have to cancel the membership and recreate it

Just to add to this, DRM based content is issued with two licenses, one to the console ID and one to the Gamertag that downloaded it, so to use this content on another console the Gamertag that downloaded it must be signed into Live, whereas all profiles can use it on the original console, unless you transfer the licenses with the DRM tool of course.

Nothing can be transferred between accounts. He would either need to purchase the games on his account or you would need to set his console as your Home console (if it's the One) in order for him to access the games on the second console.

When you purchase content it is tied to the gamertag that purchased the content. So the previous owner is still the owner of the games. There is no way to transfer the licenses to your account. With the One, if you designate your console as your Home console,
you can share content with other profiles on the console. It sounds like the previous owner has not removed that designation. If he does purchase a new console and chooses that as his Home console, it will remove the licenses from your console and you will
not be able to play the games.

There really shouldn't be a need to transfer your content every 4 months. That isn't what the license transfer process is designed for.

The family plan doesn't affect content licensing. When you purchase content it's tied to the gamertag that purchased it and the console it was purchased on. So she could use it on her account if she's playing on the same console as your account.

You could sign in on her xbox and redownload the content and do a license transfer so she can have access to the content. But the license transfer will move the licenses for all of your content so you would have to be signed into Live at all times on your
console in order to access it.
