Transferred games not working

I recently purchased a new Xbox series S and transferred my games over wifi from my old Xbox one x. Elden Ring and Resident Evil village will not work. I receive a 0x803f8001 message asking me if I own the game. Obviously, I cannot insert the game disk on the S model. I've tried reloading, rebooting, resetting and nothing works. It tells me there is an upgrade to the X/S game; which it downloads, but still gives me the error. When I go to the store, it gives me the option to manage the game; which when you look at it, it states it is not loaded. Almost want to take the unit back and keep the old model. Non upgradable games work.

You mentioned the game discs. If you own the games on discs, they will not work without the disc. You'd have to own them digitally in order to play them on the Series S.

Even if thete is an upgrade smuwtches mentioned you still need to validate ownership which requires the disk

License Transferring does what the name says, it transfers the licenses of games to a different console. Transferring 360 games will not work with Xbox One's BC, it will only work with the account that they was purchased with.

Unfortunately, you cannot play disc games on the Xbox Series S. The disc is used to prove you own the game. Since the Series S doesn't have a disc drive, the games have to be owned digitally.

I'm sorry but there is no way around this.

As alluded to above, to play a disc game, the disc needs to be physically inserted into the machine for you to play it...due to the Series S lacking a disc drive, you won't be able to play it. You either need to purchase the digital version of the games in question or you need to return the Series S for refund (depending on the store's refund policy) and buy a Series X

A disc game cannot be transferred or converted into a digital game. It will always require you to insert the disc due to the licensing for said game being encoded into the disc.
