Transfer Xbox Live account from my microsoft account to my son's

SAME SITUATION

I created a XBOX LIVE account for my son over a decade ago. I used my work email address when I created the gamertag. Back then Microsoft's services were not lumped under one login (that didn't even exist). When Microsoft deployed their one login system they
merged my son's Xbox Live account into my work Microsoft account.

Now my son is an adult. We need to transfer HIS Xbox Live gamertag to HIS Microsoft account.

This is idiotic.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. The Xbox profile cannot be moved from an account once it is created. The saved data, Microsoft currency, licenses for all the content that was purchased, and gamertag will remain on the account that they
were established to. The email address of the account can be changed. The primary alias of the account will need to be removed and transferred to a new Microsoft account.
Existing @hotmail.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, and @msn.com addresses can't be added as aliases. Once any of these addresses are removed from a Microsoft account, it cannot be recovered. The article entitled

I accidentally redeemed xbox gift card to my microsoft account instead of my son’s. I dont have an xbox account but need to transfer the funds to my son’s account. I read that transfer isn’t possible. Is there any way?

No there isnt any way. Nothing is transferable between accounts. What you can do however is use the balance on your account to gift a game of your sons choosing to their own account by selecting "buy as gift" when purchasing whatever game they want.

Hi, around 2011 I purchased Minecraft Java for my son using my own email (this Microsoft account). So naturally when we migrated the Mojang account it got migrated to my personal Microsoft account. Now my son is an adult, and due to safety and privacy reasons we would like to transfer the Minecraft user to my sons own Microsoft account, and was wondering if that was possible?

Hi there,

I'm afraid that it won't be possible to transfer only Xbox Related things to another email account.

You can however change the primary email address for the Microsoft Account to which the Xbox Live Account is connected, but in your situation the payment options will still be on that account, so that likely isn't the option you seek.

It might be best to create a new Xbox Live Account for your son, and add that to a family account, which will allow you to control what your son's account is allowed to do and transfer funds when needed etc. (Only when you set his account to match your son's
own age)

Unfortunately it's not possible to transfer things like progress, savegames etc. to a different Xbox Live Account, so your son will have to restart the games played. Some games may be an exception, like Fortnite, where progress is linked to the epic account
itself.
