As long as it's the same type of 360 (fat to fat or slim to slim) you can easily just take the hard drive off the old machine and put it on the new one. Anything that has been downloaded and profiles can be redownloaded if needed.

You will want to perform a license transfer to move your game licenses to the new console in case you need to play offline or you have other accounts on the same console that share games.

The hard drives are the same from the fat and the slim but the case around them is different, you could open the case in the fat and slim and swap them, and vice-versa.

Unfortunately no. The ability to transfer add-ons from the 360 version was discontinued.

Verdict: since my original gtag 1 was never online i have to use a transfer cable to transfer profiles from my original rrod hdd to the current xbox.

Problem: the transfer willt be a full data transfer not partial, from my original 60g hdd to my 4g slim. NOT possible.

Solution: purchase xbox 250g or + HDD, replace 4g hdd with 250, purchase 1x slim to slim hdd transfer cable, transfer current profile from 4g HDD to new 250+HDD. Purchase Xbox360 original hdd to Xbox360 slim hdd transfer cable, Transfer profile from original
360 hdd to 360 slim with new 250g hdd, merge profiles
