Is there a way of checking if the disc games he has are available to download from Game Pass?

If he subscribes to Game Pass/ultimate for a short time and downloads the games from there onto the new console, does he get to keep the downloaded games if he cancels Game Pass subscription?

If you gamepass subscription runs out or you cancel it then you don't get to keep the games.

Gamepass is like a video game version of Netflix.Disney + etc. You need an active subscription in order to play the games on there.

1- Yes,as long as the old & new consoles were connected to Xbox live you will be prompted to download his profile during the set up of the new console & everything linked to his profile,including his remaining subscription,will download with his profile.

2- No,you would have to buy the digital versions of any disc based games he owns & wants to play so if that's a few games it might be better of getting a Series X.

3-Same as answer 1,as long as you are connected to Xbox live the he will be prompted to download his save data the first time he starts one of his games on the new console.
