Transfer purchased movies from Movies and TV app to external hard drive

Hello, I have two xbox ones w/two xbox live accounts. One xbox one live account has a purchased movie for which I would like to have the ability to view the movie on the second xbox one and second xbox live account (different from the account which purchased
the movie). Is there a way to do this?

Hey there! Thanks for reaching out to us. I'm afraid there is no feature to transfer purchased movies from the Xbox One console from a USB drive to your laptop. However, you should be able to watch these movies on your laptop if you have a Windows 10 device
& the Movies & TV
app installed. If you sign in under the account that purchased those movies, you should be able to watch them through the app.

When i had my 360, I used to hate this about them. I used numerous USB stick and Countless different formats for movies to see what would work. I was able to use a 4gb USB stick to watch movies in the MP4 format. Anything else didn't work. But as far as
i know theres no patch or software that will let you transfer movies from a USB stick or external hard drive to the xbox internal hard drive. i suggest trying different USB devices as some external hard drives dont even register on the xbox. Also the format
of the movies you have on USB as anything in MKV wont work. You'll need to convert movies into MP4 or AVI

You can designate the account that purchased the movies as the Home Xbox on the other console (support.xbox.com/.../my-home-xbox) and you will then be able to share
the content with other accounts on the other console.

I tried allocating the xbox which has the movie on "Movie and TV" app to "my home xbox" and then trying to tie in to that home xbox "Movies and TV" from my daughters xbox (which is currently designated as "this is not my home xbox") but am not able to see
the movie when I go into "movies and TV" from her xbox. I am sure I am doing something wrong; any help would be appreciated. (I am able to see the movie from my pc tho but doesn't help as my daughter wants to watch these movies on her xbox). Thanks again...

 

Hey there, Mrasswupped! Unfortunately, movies and TV shows are tied to that account specifically. You will need to have the account that purchased them signed in and in the Movies & TV app in order for you to watch them.
