Transfer of license from Xbox One to Xbox 360 (unintended transfer in first instance)

Hi guys, I have a xbox 360 that used to be my home console with no issues. I was at a mates house recently who has a fairly new xbox one. We went to play fifa for the first time on it and as we used to do when we both had 360's, I tried to sign in as well
so that I would get any achievements (as you do). Long story short, now that I am back at my house my 360 isn't recognised as my home console. Tried license transfer and no joy, still can't download games for gold to the 360. I log on to my microsoft account
to look at my devices list and it shows my mates xbox one as my home console and I am unable to remove it. Have made contact twice with xbox support, first time they 'reset' my account and still no joy. I had to download my profile again on the 360 to connect
to live but still can't download games. Microsoft account still has my mates xbox one listed as my home profile. Second contact with them a few minutes ago and they can't work it out but recommended a post here might help. So, I need to be able to make my
360 my home console again and get rid of the xbox one off of my devices list.....both of which I cannot do (also can't attempt another license transfer now for another few months due to attempt a few days ago). Any help would be great, hate not being able
to download games for gold! Cheers.

Sorry, this is not possible to do. The use of the license transfer system in this way is not prohibited. A license transfer cannot be used to transfer one piece of content from one console to another. It transfers all licenses from one Xbox 360 to another Xbox
360, not from one Xbox LIVE account to another Xbox LIVE account.

 

Lincence Transfer Issues

Hey there Unkown! That's because license transfers aren't used for sharing DLC/Games without paying for them. The purpose of a license transfer is to transfer ownership of content from one console to another console; not to transfer ownership from one account
to another.

For example, proper use of a license transfer would be: You have an original Xbox 360 console and you buy an Xbox 360 S console. You then use a license transfer to transfer ownership of all of your DLC from your original console to your new console.

 

The Home setting should only apply to the One, not the 360. Even setting his One as your Home console should not have had any effect on your 360 content. What happens when you try downloading content to your 360?

 

I went to download current games with gold and I only get the option of 'rate' rather than download. Tried to do download via computer and it says 'not available in my region' - which it actually is according to standard country availability wording. I am
just about to try and purchase something to see what happens in case it is just a one off issue with Saints Row free game. Ideally though, I want my mates xbox one removed from my list of microsoft devices since it is not mine.

 

To change your Home setting you would either need to make another One your Home console or sign into your friend's console again and check the Home setting there. If you do have his console set as your Home you would be able to remove it there as well.

 

yeah I think I will have to talk him through it over the phone (lives a few hours away) to try and remove myself from his console. other stuff seems to be work fine on my xbox 360 so thinking it might just be an issue with the current games with gold - will
find out next week when next game is released. thanks for your though.

 

.....Issue with Games for Gold was Saints Row IV link on xbox is apparently for US version of the game which is banned in Australia, found alternate link via these forums and game is now downloading - though I still have the issue of trying to get my mates
xbox one off of my device list (download of game was initially assigned to 'another console' which I assume would have been to his xbox one). Test of other games I have downloaded to my 360 when logged in as another profile was about a 50/50 success rate (who
knows why some games worked and some didn't). IT issue that will never be explained. Will close this question off for now though as 95% working.
