Transfer my Xbox account to my son

I accidentally redeemed xbox gift card to my microsoft account instead of my son’s. I dont have an xbox account but need to transfer the funds to my son’s account. I read that transfer isn’t possible. Is there any way?

No there isnt any way. Nothing is transferable between accounts. What you can do however is use the balance on your account to gift a game of your sons choosing to their own account by selecting "buy as gift" when purchasing whatever game they want.

I apologize but there is no option to transfer an Xbox profile from one account to another the only option will be changing primary email which will not be possible in your case since you're using a Microsoft reserved domain.

unfortunately nothing can be transferred, the Xbox account IS the Microsoft account which in turn is also the email account. (they were completely merged a very long time ago). All purchases, cheevos, Xbox data, office data and every other bit of data that Microsoft services provides is fixed to that one Microsoft account.

accounts can be created for children 2 and up as i did for my kids who are all now grown up.

they then attach to a parental account and when they become an adult the accounts also become adult.

He would have to create his own account and start over, but he can continue using the games as long as the Xbox is set as your home Xbox.

My son has historically used my xbox account to sign into games and link with friends. However, I've recently separated from my sons mum and its proving problematic for son to use / sign into my account to play games etc.

Is there any way of transferring his games, progress and conneections onto his own email/xbox account?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for coming to the Xbox forums, I'd be happy to help.

Unfortunately there is no way to dissociate an Xbox profile from the Microsoft Account used to create it. All of the data and progress, purchases, games etc. is tied to the Microsoft account and cannot be transferred to another Microsoft account.

The best thing to do for this scenario is to add your son's email on your account as a secondary alias and then set it up as a sign in preference.

1. Go to
Add an alias. Sign in to your Microsoft account, if prompted.
2. Under Add an alias, do one of the following:

• Create a new Outlook.com email address and add it as an alias.
• Add an existing email address as an alias.

3. Select Add alias.

4. After you've added the email address, you'll be asked to verify that you're the account owner:

1. Select Verify next to the new alias. A message is sent to the account for verification.
2. After you receive the message, select the included link to confirm that you own the account.

5. Under Sign-in preferences, select
Change sign-in preferences.

6. Either select the check boxes next to the aliases that you want to use to sign in or clear the check boxes for the aliases that you don’t want to use to sign in, and then select
Save.
