Transfer Gamertag to new Live ID

Hi,

I followed the instructions in the support section and when I click "Yes, change" after all the steps I get the following error:

"Sorry, there's a problem with the Xbox service. Try again later. For help with this problem, go to
www.xbox.com/errorhelp. Status code: 8016FE6D"

When I search that error code, nothing comes up. In the Xbox Live Service page, all systems are up and running. I tried last night and again this afternoon and I still get the same error.

I should also add that I have no Microsoft Money (or whatever it's called) on my account. I did and that stopped me before, but since then I've spent it so the balance is now $0.00.

What am I doing wrong and why doesn't this work?

Help please-gamertag issue

Create a new Windows Live ID and transfer the gamertag you don't use to the new email address. Then transfer your son's gamertag to your wife's email address.

 

Is it possible to delete a Gamertag?

I have my original Xbox Live account set up with an old windows live ID that was hacked. I wanted to change my gamertag to my current Live ID, but I previously tried this, and accidently set my new Live ID up with a new Gamertag. Would it be possible to
delete the gamertag in order for me to transfer my existing Gamertag to the new Live ID?

Well, I do know that if you have changed it beforehand, you need to wait 30 days to change it once more.

 

A small addition to what DGYT has said

be aware that a profile needs to be on a console for atleast 30 days before it can be moved to another Microsoft Account without it being downloaded. A redownload of the profile will reset that 30 day counter

 

Thanks for the suggestions guys. But, I have never changed what email it was attached to. It's also been on the same Xbox360 for about 2 years now. I did get an Xbox One when it came out and I did copy my profile across, but that was back in November. I
did try to change the email address before the Xbox One came out, but as I wrote above, it had a credit of MS points on it so it couldn't be moved.

There really needs to be a way to do this either on xbox.com or on the Xbox One. I had to get my 360 out of the cupboard to try it again which is a little ridiculous.

Any other suggestions?

Wizman he said Live ID , Not the gamertag. If it still is not working, you might be able to call Microsoft support, and , correct me if im wrong users, but I believe they can edit details
of the account if you do have the information and a spare email.

 

Right. So I had a chat to Xbox Support about it. Turns out that the email I wanted to change to is set as the alternative email for my current account. So I needed to remove the alternative email, wait 30 days (as this was a change to my account so I can't
change emails) and then I can do it.

This is just ludicrous. It shouldn't be that hard to change the email attached to a gamertag.

 

I understand that is seems difficult, but it is a security measure to prevent people stealing accounts and quickly changing the details and unfortunately you now suffer due to those security measures.

Like you mentioned, all should be solvable after those 30 days
