Transfer gamertag from parent account to kids account

Before I understood the importance and the amount of information actually linked with a Microsoft account, I created an Xbox gamertag for my underage son using my Hotmail address and thus my Microsoft account. He has been using this tag for over a year
and I now want his game play, game progress, downloads etc off of my account and merged into a new Microsoft account that I created for him and I will have parental controls.

It seems I can't do this? Is this true? If so, this is totally ridiculous. When he logs into his Xbox and plays, my name shows up and not his. I get notifications on my own computer when other gamers are asking him to play, etc. This is a total waste
of time and resources for me. Any ideas?

    :)

    Great Question,

So try to check if his Xbox in the settings is set to “My Home Xbox” if it is make sure to turn that off, once you do that turn your Xbox to “My Home Xbox” so he wont get all the Notifications you should be getting

    Thanks,

Let me know if this works

You can’t transfer anything from one account to another.

Setting screen time for adults/parent accounts

It is my understanding that the child accounts I have setup for my kids will transfer to adult accounts when they turn 18. This means their achievements and games purchased with the child account will now be a normal adult account.

For example, I have XXX24 setup as the parent account with child accounts YYY24 and YYY25. When YYY24 turns 18 the account is now removed from being a child account attached to XXX24 and is now a standard account keeping the gamertag YYY24 and all achievements
and digital games purchased with that account. Someday when my kid "YYY24" has their own kids it will be a parent account with new child accounts under it.

The only difference between a Parent Account and a Child Account is that one resides under the other. With the right settings, a Child Account can have the same unrestricted access as the Parent Account. My oldest child does not have any restrictions on
their account so it really is similar to a standard account.

Best way to gift a used Xbox 360?

It's great that you want to make such an amazing gift for your friend's grandson.

While others already described how to remove your account, please help your friend make an account for himself (an adult account), and a separate (child) account for his grandson.

Some (grand) parents make the mistake of using their own adult email account and let the kid play with that.

However, by using their own adult account for the kid, the kid is regarded as an adult for the console, and the parent is unable to prevent the kid from talking to internet strangers for example, or limit the playtime. Also, this prevents the kid from going
on an (accidental) shopping spree, and buying stuff from the Xbox Marketplace with the parent's credit card or bank account.

So please advise your friend, that when they create an account for his grandchild, that he (or the father of the kid) should create their own adult Microsoft Account and then a separate child account (by giving the kid's actual birthdate during account creation).

After the child account is created, the parent should then go to
    https://account.microsoft.com/family
and add the child account to their family.

That way, the parent can set permissions and privacy options to make the Xbox a safe place to play.

Additionally, this avoids later issues, where the kid would be able to access the parent's email or other Microsoft Services, if the parents let the kid play on their account. Later, you can't move the kid's gaming account away from the parent email account,
without the parent's Microsoft Account being deleted.
