    Ok, I have scoured the net as best I can and I am finding opposing responses and I can't find an answer which is consistent. It's probably due to my not phrasing my question correctly.

    Well, I have (to me) a good sized Original Xbox, 360, and XBOne X library. Unfortunately, most of it's on disc. I don't want to pay for my dark souls, original destiny vanilla through taken king, mass effect, every Halo and MCC, Gears of War, etc games again. I spent a lot of money to get my library of games I play (hard copy disc as well as digital download) to have to pay AGAIN (That would be 3x in some cases going from 360 to XB One to Series S) in order to put them all on a Series S.

    So, I plan on getting a Series S (as soon as I can get one) and will add the 2TB seagate drive to it. I'd go with he 1TB and later move to a 2TB but that just makes it even more expensive so I might as well get the 2TB at the outset, no? In the end, my idea will cost more than the Series X and I still lose the actual disc drive but I am willing to do that because, after a year of trying, I am just exhausted with chasing a Series X. Good luck finding a Series X at a reasonable price, even Amazon and Walmart allow exorbitant reselling of 2x-3x original cost on their sites. I really wanted that Halo limited edition but even Microsoft couldn't hook me up. Every time I tried to buy it, no joy and no dice. I can still do it but not at $1000-$1200. I have bills to pay and kids to put through school. And, every now and then, I like to eat food. Go figure, right?

    BUT... how do I get my games library on the Series S when alot of my library is hard copy disc? If I have to repurchase it, that's a couple of thousand dollars American and ... Yeah, no one wants that outlay a second, or 3rd, time per game.

    It's just too expensive and the cost... Well, I might as well have just paid an Ebay scalper 1200.00 usd for the Halo edition Series X and then sit and wonder why life is such a cruel, cruel thing.

    Is there an option? There has to be a way to do it. I'm grateful that Elite Dangerous and Warframe are already digital for me.

    Sorry to hear about that, however, do you have the game on disc? If so, please note as advertised, Xbox Series S is all-digital, so if you transfer games from your Xbox one to Series S, only digital games would be playable - unless you have the Series X, to insert the disc for its license.

    Xbox One Series S - I'm confused

    You have names mixed up. There are no consoles named the Xbox One Series S or Xbox One Series X.

    The Xbox One/One S/One X all have a disc drive.

    The Xbox One S All Digital Edition does not have a disc drive.

    The Xbox Series X has a disc drive.

    The Xbox Series S does not have a disc drive.

    All the consoles can play backward compatible games. The Series S and One S all digital edition can only play games digitally downloaded.

    The other consoles can play games from disc and from digitally downloaded,

    I hope this clears things up for you.

    You cannot transfer purchased game discs to the Xbox Series S. If you own an Xbox Series S and want to play games that you own on disc, you'll need to purchase them again from the Microsoft Store. If you plan on playing disc games, you may want to get the Xbox Series X instead of the Xbox Series S, as it has a drive.

    Keep in mind that this would only apply to games that support Smart Delivery, which is a feature that the developers decide to enable. The full library is confirmed here:

    GTA 5 is one example that doesn’t support Smart Delivery - meaning that you would unfortunately need to purchase the game again if upgrading to a Series X|S. Your game saves/progress (including your online character) can be transferred, though:

    Fyi the xbox series s/x has no one in it

    This is to reduce the confusion between series s/x and one when it comes to.compatibility

    Only the xbox one s all digital is the only xbox one that isn't compatible with discs

    However there is no limitation as far as xbox one other then the digital only console as far as xbox one games goes

    Vs the series x /s they are backward with xbox one and with the series s limitation as far as discs goes
