trading in physical game for digital copy

is there any way to bring the disc in the gamestop where i got the disc from and trade it in for a digital copy of the game

They're charging £3 - £4 more for the digital copy.

The reason they don't undercut physical games shops is so that those games shops keep trading and are not forced to close.

I suspect solvent abuse may be at play here.

 

Trading in Digital Games for Physical Copies

What if we could trade our digital copies of games for physical copies...?
No, not physical copies for digital download codes and such... The other way around. Read carefully.

I know, it may seem a bit unreasonable, but I've hastily bought a few games when I first got my Xbox One as digital downloads... Not realizing that I prefer physical copies.

Maybe we could have some system through the Xbox Store (On the Xbox One console, when on the home screen you can use LB to get to it), that allows you to "downgrade", or remove your play anywhere privileges that come with the digital download and get a physical
copy shipped to you? Of course we'd probably have to pay the difference, and we'd get a standard edition since the digital ones we already have would most likely have been something above and we'd already have the special bonuses and DLCs.

So in summary, and apology, for the long complication of all that:

1) So you have a digital download that you want as a physical game. (Ex: I want to trade in this gold edition Halo 5 code for a gold edition Halo 5 disc)

2) You go to the Xbox Store on your console and select "Get a physical copy of this game" and put in your passcode to use your credit card to pay the difference and confirm the decision, bla bla bla

3) Confirm shipping address, play privileges for that game are removed until you put the disc in your console.

Another issue I'd like to point out is special edition consoles coming out with digital downloads. That was disappointing when I first got my Xbox One (Halo 5 Edition). It'd be nice if we got a choice between digital and physical,

like Gamestop did with a Madden special edition console or something a while back.

Hopefully, if enough people want this, it'll actually be a feature in the future. Let me know what you guys think and if I'm not the only one who's been thinking this.

 

Not directly, unless the game is unopened and you have your receipt. Gamestop will let you get a refund for an unopened game but if you've opened the game then they will just give you normal trade in value for the game.

There is no exchange program to switch a physical disc for a digital download. For digital downloads, you will need to purchase the game from the Xbox Store, although you could of course use money from a currency/gift card that can be bought at a physical
retailer like Gamestop.

 

No sir currently there is no option for that.
