Tracking Stolen XBOX ONE

Is there a way to track a stolen XBOX ONE that has never been connected to the internet? I had it delivered to my house and someone stole it off of my side porch.

nope, that is an issue you must bring up to the delivery company. Not sure where you ordered it but it should have required a signature and if it was left without signature, you have to fight that with the delivery company.

so if I was able to obtain the serial number could I contact Microsoft to see if they could track it with that? essentially it'd be a brand new unopened XBOX ONE that I'm trying to report stolen

 

That is something the FBI would have to handle. MS is not going to do that for you. You could report it to your local PD but odds are you have no evidence of it actually being stolen therefore your case will be cold before you even report it. You need to
call the company you bought it from I.E. MS Store, Gamestop, Target... Where ever make your report. Contact the Carrier used for delivery make your reports. Hope that they take responsibility in reimbursement and if they dont then you need to step up and report
it to the Better Business Bureau, BBB.

After that you will most likely get the assistance you need as they will pretty much force the companys in question to honor their deal with you, or pay you back.

 

tracking would only lead you to ITEM WAS DELIVERED.. you need to contact the shipper first and get confirmation it was delivered to your address.. and deal with the shipper only... unfortunately as bad as it sounds... MS or who ever you bought it from did
their job... you ordered and paid, they shipped...I cant see MS or who ever doing much for you until you clear it up with the delivery service..

 

Call the police and report it stolen.

MS will not "find" a console for you.

You should also look into how your retailer handles items that are stolen before receipt, as well as see how your credit card company handles a retailer that sells items which are stolen in transit.

 

This is why I don't like theft - even warranties and most insurance won't cover theft because it's so easy to hide something and simply say it was stolen. It's bad for everyone as a whole.

 

What sort of courier company leaves something as expensive as a new Xbox 1 console if no one is at home? Also something which costs more than $100 you should really request signature required. None of our courier companies in NZ do that. If no one is at
home and if the item is expensive, they'd just leave a calling card. Wow I'm smarter than the delivery company if they didn't do that. This is why I got my Xbox 1 from an authorized retail store no need to deal with the hassle of delivery. Also having it delivered
by only standard post instead of courier for expensive items is at they buyers risk.

 

If your in the UK, Distance Seller Regulations (DSR) apply and its down to the retail company to prove it was delivered to the purchaser, a signature is one way, leaving it on a porch isn't good enough, and they by law have to sort it.

In the USA I have no idea.

 

As Enen pointed out, that's on way to resolve the matter in the UK but as far as the US goes I have no clue either. I do feel for you though, that's not a nice experience at all. Your delivery service and then your local authority would be the best place
to start.

 

** first thing I would do is contact your credit card company.. state the item was stolen and never received.. they will put a reversal on your card... wipe it clean an go buy a new one** customers win these battles 99.9% of the time...

how it works in the US, the seller would get a call from the customer... all he has to do is show proof of shipping... which is a nil move since most items are prepaid online though accounts with the shippers.. IE fedex USPS UPS.. now the receiver would
have to call the shipper with a provided tracking number... it would come back as delivered... then the receiver would have to start a claim for loss or stolen product... then the shipping co would contact the seller... ask for proof... trace the item was
on the truck... mind you all packages are scanned into the system once they change hands/vehicles/locations.. it would come down to the driver of said truck.. if no signature required, he is safe.. all he has to do is prove it was "left in a reasonable location"...
then it would go to collections from there where you will wait for weeks before a judgement is files and you get reimbursed...

Your best bet IMHO.. walk into the store and buy one and walk out with it...

get your claim (which will be a refund for the price, not a new console)..

BTW... I have personal accounts with all 3 major US carriers as well as larger freight carriers from work... I ship on average 100 packages/items a month through my store... I have had stolen items before....

 

@smiles, its not a couriers job to know or care whats in the box, its down to the retailer (and to an extent the buyer) to ensure the delivery service is appropriate to the item and the time available to the buyer.

One question has to be why did they order it for a day they were not in?

And while I sympathies with the OP, its not one persons fault.

Also to answer your question most of them, it depends on the courier service used, "myhermes" is a big one, they think safe is putting your items in wheely bins, but they are cheap which is why companies use them.
