TP Link SF1005D Switch crossover cable or ethernet

hey guys

Ok basically. i own the old xbox 360 pro console, and i plan to hook up my router to this switch the SF1005D and then my pc and xbox 360 to the switch. and i was wondering if i have to use a crossover cable or an ethernet cable

i have alot of cables and if i remember, a crossover had the same color of wiring, and non crossover had different colors on each end. the cord im using for the 360 has different colors on each end

You mention that you are using an Ethernet cable but System Link requires a Crossover Ethernet cable. They are wired differently however it is very seldom that they are labeled so it can be difficult to tell the difference between a regular Ethernet cable
and a crossover.

Can you confirm that you are using a Crossover Ethernet cable?

If yes do you have the ability to try a different crossover Ethernet cable?

I want to go n buy the correct cables n switches but need to know what exactly to ask for...this ethernet/crossover thing is confusing. ..and the tutorial on the xbox site uses both terms...as well as 'system link cable'...

use an Ethernet cable. Ethernet has the same colours each end. Crossover has the colours "crossed over", so reversed on each end.

if you go System Link chainsmokingbob is right in regards to needing 2 tvs,2 consoles,2 copies of Halo4 ..however.the ethernet cable between the two consoles must be a CROSSOVER ethernet type cable, it is a special version of an ethernet cable and will usually
say so on the outside of it ...... if you are talking about just running your 2 xboxes thru your router that is not a problem i have two running on my router ...the only thing i would suggest is to invest in a ethernet switch that is designed for gaming, ie:
d-link 5-port gigabit desktop switch, it helps alot in getting rid of lagging issues while playing ............... enjoy game on

The 360 system link page says you need an ethernet crossover cable that allows you to connect 2 consoles to themselves.

Can I use this cable and connect my xbox one and 360 or do I need a router and normal ethernet cables?
