    Hey everyone,

    Sorry, longer post, but...

    So yesterday I decided to go out and buy a TP-Link for my Xbox / WiFi. It’s something I’ve been looking at for awhile now; our modem and router are set up in our basement (trust me, such a weird spot to do so, I know) so I’ve always wanted to get
    an Ethernet extender of sorts to be able to play in my room upstairs and have lag-free gaming.

    I went and bought the Netgear Powerline 1000v2, which comes with two sets of adapters/Ethernet cords; one for the router area and the other for the room of your choice, respectively. Installation was very smooth and the directions were as simple
    as plugging them both in, letting them “communicate” to one another, until you are able to click the security button on both to “secure the connection between the two”. I had the first adapter set up plugged into my router, and the second one placed in my
    room, plugged into my Xbox.

    The problem I am running into is that when this Ethernet is plugged into my Xbox, my network settings show that my NAT Type is suddenly unavailable (it’s usually set on Open under IPv4 and IPv6), and I cannot do any network/speed tests, attain connection,
    etc. However, the minute I unplug it, I receive normal connection again through the wireless connection.

    As a family we use Xfinity WiFi for our modem, and Apple Airport Extreme for our router. I’ve tried so many things regarding network settings on both Apple and Xfinity utility apps, but still can’t get an Open NAT Type/normal connection I should
    be having through the TP-Link. Any help would be awesome because I’ve been at it all day and night and would help me not waste this $80 purchase!

    It doesnt matter if you have you xbox connected to the tplink.

    Is this how you network is:

    Arris > TP Link > Xbox

    As in the tp link router is connected to the arris and then the xbox is connected to the TP link?

    If so then thats why your having issues. Your xbox in this type of setup is essentially behind 2 NATs which can cause all sorts of issues including the problem your having.

    You will need to google how to put your arris model gateway into "bridge mode" so that it doesnt act as a router and only acts as a modem.

    This should fix your issue

    Having same issue but I have 2 Xbox one online , 1 Xbox Nat I'd open and other is on moderate never had any issues when playing 2-3 Xbox 360 online all Nat where open so now why the one ?

    I notice you're using a VPN router (ER605), which is a symmetric NAT. This can cause issues with certain types of network usage such as online gaming. There may be a certain configuration which allows this to work correctly, but you'd have to get in touch with TP-Link or Spectrum to look into this further.
