% towards next star rank decreased

Yesterday i looked at my Xbox Live rewards and the page told me I was 66% of the way to your next star, having looked this morning it is now telling me that I am only 9% of the way to your next star.

Why has this decreased and what/when is this information based on?

Chnages to myVIP rank

MyVIP rank changes daily, from $42 away from first star rank, to 51% complete towards the second star rank the next day. Then it changes back to $42 away from the first star rank on 3rd and keeps switching up like this daily. What is my actual star rank?

What counts toward VIP star ranking?

I pre-ordered a game and it counted toward the pre-order punchcard. Will this pre-order amount also count toward the total for obtaining a VIP star rank? If not, can the allocation of that pre-order amount be altered so it goes toward the VIP star rank
instead of the punchcard?

Ranks reset each year on January 1. Your percentage is based on how much you've spent from January 1 until now. You can see how much you need for each level at http://rewards.xbox.com/terms-and-conditions

In September 2015, a year after we first launched MyVIP, we re-evaluated the program and made adjustments where necessary. In order to respond to our growing membership numbers and expanded regions, we adjusted the levels of MyVIP to better focus on offering
additional monthly missions and other ways to earn for more members around the globe.

Based on community feedback from our members, there was some confusion about when and how MyVIP would be recalibrated on a yearly basis. In order to simplify and streamline the process, and to let you know exactly how much time you have to build your rank,
moving forward we will recalibrate your Star Rank progress based on the calendar year. That means you currently have until December 31, 2016 to boost your starting 2017 MyVIP Star Rank, which will be based on your overall spend between September 1, 2015 to
December 31, 2016. You can see your current projected Star Rank for 2017 on MyRewards.

In the future, we will consistently recalibrate your MyVIP Star Rank based on your calendar year spend from January 1 to December 31. We are also focused on adding even more ways to Reward our most loyal VIP members with additional special offers and VIP
Exclusives events. Check out MyMissions for all of the most current ways to earn!

Therefore, based on your eligible spending from last year (September 2015 - December 2016), you retained your one star level and then had your progress set to default. This means that you need 400 GBP in eligible spending to advance to the next level. After
reviewing your three purchases so far this year, you have spent 39.10 GBP. Since 39.1/400 = .09, you are currently at 9% MyVIP progress.

We see that your progress is accurate. Please keep in mind our 96 hour processing time and the fact that $60 is only 3% progress towards your next rank at your current rank (60 out of 1800 required for five star MyVIP).

Subscriptions, in-game consumables, and preorders do not count towards VIP. So it would not be possible to have the preorder count towards your star rank.

Hi BlowYaFaceOff Z. We looked into your account and based on your eligible purchases, you have been properly placed in the MyVIP program. Keep in mind that consumables, pre-orders and console purchases do not count towards MyVIP.
You can see what qualifies in the
FAQ. In 2016, your eligible purchases came out to $309.83, which would place you in Star Rank 1 at the beginning of January 2017. Since January 1, 2017, your eligible purchases comes out to $553.38, which puts you at Star Rank 1. We will not be recalibrating
MyVIP Star Ranks for the next year, so you will still be on your way to Rank 2, which is at $600.
