TOS regarding Xbox Live Chat

I was suspended for 24 hrs regarding in game chat. I understand the TOS, no profanity, etc., however I’d like to know if there’s a dictionary used, or a particular list of phrases, or any other type of literature defining what players can and cannot say.

To put it frankly, I’m concerned that I’ve been suspended simply to satisfy some moderator’s sense of social justice. It would be better if xbox would provide some type of literature instead of leaving decisions to a “team” to determine a solution.

I know some type of authority should be proactive in ensuring that people don’t take things too far. But to be suspended, without using profanity or offensive speech, has made me think about switching platforms. After all, the user that reported me first
contacted me, illicting a negative response. And of course, he complained and the judges were more than happy to oblige. You’ve created a system which allows online bullies to initiate fights, and then after the fact, get another user suspended.

Well, I’ll avoid contact with other users from now on, but if anything like this should happen again, I’ll switch to PS4.

Regardless if you have actually sold your services for the 800MSP or not, you are advertising that you would. That is against the rules.

 

The Code of Conduct are the guidelines of what they use, but there is no specific list of words since it would be too long and constantly changing.

It doesn't matter how a situation starts. If you respond in a way that violates the code of conduct, you can be punished. In situations like that, it's best to just report the other person and block communications with them instead of responding.

Playstation has similar rules.

 

You can switch to any place the code of conduct is enforced in all the consoles so far...and the voice chats are part of that code of conduct next time double check what you say...

 

Ps4 also upholds basic enforcement.

Best thing to do is just don't insult others or break rules.

They're fairly simple to follow.

My point is that what I said shouldn’t have violated the TOS. However, because the TOS is left to someone else’s discretion, I was suspended.

Xbox live includes games that are mature rated, and BF4, that I was playing, includes profanity. The atmosphere that the games promote directly contradict the TOS. Honestly, when people talk about being suspended for teabagging we know that enforcement has
gone too far.

A lot of people pay good money for these products. Xbox, and live, are merchandise, it’s not a service to be given or taken freely by the will of someone in an office. There’s a matter of principle here that I think enforcement is lacking.

 

The ESRP ratings for the games are first for campaign online play is not rated.

And the ratings are only enforced for purchasing the games no minor can walk into a game store and purchase an M rated game by law.

Teabagging is not a code of conduct violation so no one will get suspended for teabagging someone else in a game.

Yes a lot of people pay money for the service but when they signed up for the service they also agreed to follow the rules of the service and agreed that if they broke the rules that they understood that their was consequences for breaking the rules.

 

I understand the rating system and the purchasing age, that’s not the point. The multiplayer characters talk and sometimes use profanity. That means if you simply repeated what they say you could be suspended. And like I said, I shouldn’t have been suspended
because what I said shouldn’t have violated the CoC.

So someone correct me if I’m wrong, I read that it was actually ambassadors like yourselves that determine suspensions. Is that true? And you ambassadors aren’t paid representatives of xbox?

So a company that earns $500B can’t afford to pay people to respond to complaints? Or did they somehow coax a bunch of salty gamers into thinking they were part of a “community” in order to avoid expenses?

No. Ambassadors have nothing to do with enforcement.

Enforcement is handled by paid Microsoft staff.
