Top 5 Most Underrated/Underappreciated Games Ever

I enjoyed every second of Spec Ops The Line as well. Such a good story and a true "omg what have I just done?" moment. The ending was just superb. So good I had to play it through again immediately. Truly underrated!

^ me! I'm quite selective and usually finish games I start before moving on, Three games I can think of that I gave up on, GTA4, Dungeon Siege 3 and Resi 6. Got quite a few on the shelf for a replay when I can though.

I know I have a lot of backlog at the moment. And I am trying to get rid of a lot of it as we speak. Good for you Genchy!

Spec Ops was one of those games that comes along every so often that really makes an impact in the way I wish more games would.

I genuinely felt gutted at the part you probably know I'm referring to. (Don't want to post spoilers) Also, I made sure I watched all possible endings... But not until I'd sat through the entire credits listening to that Hendrix song in complete contemplation.

If anyone here hasn't played it... It's a game that I cannot recommend highly enough. The gameplay mechanics aren't anything groundbreaking, but the story will stay with you for some time after.

Also... Both the Riddick games (as mentioned by a few here) are essential if you're into the movies. Best movie tie in games ever imo.

 

Bang on the button there Xeno, That particular moment you refer to had more emotional impact than any other game I can think of and really did make you pause and take stock. I too sat there in contemplation at the end and its very very rare that a game
has such a thought provoking story. A proper war story for the modern world.

Moving on, couldnt agree more about the Riddick games either, and the 360 double bundle was just amazing value for money with the remastered Escape from Butcher Bay and then Escape from Dark Athena. Brilliant games in a brilliant package.

I know the game got good reviews, but I'm really surprised it wasn't talked about that much. Everyone goes on about the endings of Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite... And yes, they were amazing, but not in the way Spec Ops made you consider "choice" and the
human condition. It's definitely in my top 10, maybe even top 5 games of all time... It's hard to say exactly, as there are a heck of a lot of amazing games out there.

Not sure if you've heard of "This War of Mine"... I hope it's coming to Xbox, but nothing's been announced as yet. It'll be PC (Windows), Mac, Linux, iOS (iPad?) and Android... Watch the YouTube clip with one of the guys from 11 bit Studios... It got me
excited for this "game"...

I love "The Chronicle Of Riddick: Escape From Butchers Bay" and I wish that more movie based games would follow this example (but due to time restriants in making the game adaptation come out with the movie and extremely cheap budgets to work with, the developers
can't be blamed for them).

"The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butchers Bay" didn't have the kind of time restraints & was very well funded
