For the past few days, my sons xbox one s has been constantly and consistently giving us a (insert game, any game) took too long to start error

I have tried the hard reset, holding down the power button, with removing the power cord- this has done nothing. Ive continued to try this but it does not seem to do anything at all on each attempt.

I have reset the xbox completely, cleared the MAC, uninstalled and then reinstalled the games he wishes to play. None of this has helped in the slightest, I could really use some help as to what to do now.

I have one other possible suggestion you may wish to try before sending the console in for service, but before offering my suggestion, it would be helpful to know if this issue began after the most recent Xbox system update (most recent update taking place
on or after July 9, 2019)?

And also, is your son's console enrolled in the Xbox Insider Program (a program allowing console owners to test early versions of the OS ahead of general release)?

I recommend that you restart your factory console but without deleting your games

no such luck with the delete all- looks like its something that needs to be sent in?

Please try the following steps one at a time to resolve the issue:

Solution 1: Do a power cycle to clear the cache of the console

1. Turn off the Xbox console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.

2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.

Important Be sure to wait 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

3. Plug the console power cable back in.

4, Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox console.

Solution 2: Please check if your console has a pending system update that needs to be installed.

Make sure your console is connected to the internet, and then press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select System > Settings.

Select System > Updates & downloads.

Under "Updates", you'll see: Console update available. Select this button to begin your update

Solution 3: If there is an external hard drive connected to your console now, please turn off your console and then disconnect the external hard drive. Turn on your console without it and see if it works fine.

Solution 4: Do a factory reset

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select System > Settings > System > Console info.

3. Select Reset console.

4. Reset and keep my games & apps.
