Took my US model to Yokohama, Can I still use Digital Download of US Titles?

I moved for work from Chicago to Yokohama, Japan, and I want to confirm before making any attempted purchases whether or not I can still purchase games on demand without complications due to foreign IP address locations.

TL;DR: In Japan, can I buy US digital games on a US console?

Digital will sell itself. It took me awhile to get use to the steam concept. I think by allowing people to choose between them will have its advantages. I do like physical copies and i never sell my games. I do buy used when i can. But for the most part i think you'll see people embrace the digital front. Some people will not off the bat but at least this way MS has given them the choice. Eventually i believe digital will be the preferred method. Let them jump in when their ready and see the benefits other people are getting by using the digital model. Then they'll convert. Lead the horse to water to so to speak.

Agree disc way better i took a day off for this game and cant play digital download doesnt work but confirm payment always and still work , and dont expect to have a compensation for lost times player on stream already level 40 lol and i cant start my download
yet they should refund us so i can go to a store and get it digital game are always broken this was the laxt time they get me

your best bet is to make an account for your new region or do a region migration

Triple a titles will most likely be region locked

You will probably have issues playing games as it is a different format

 

Yes, you should be able to buy US digital releases on a US console even in Japan. Downloading those titles might actually prove difficult however.

I'll try to be as concise as possible but due to varying international laws, trade embargoes, rating boards, certifications, etc., etc., etc., a lot of titles are region locked and even though your console is American and your account is American your physical
location determined by your IP address would be Japanese and that would create issues when you attempt to download the title. An exception to this would be military bases, those almost always have American IP addresses.

You could do a very convoluted work around involving ICS and a VPN but frankly speaking that's frowned upon by Microsoft.
