Tons of problems with my Xbox. I think its dying.

My Xbox been working fine for a long time, but recently I've been having trouble starting games and apps. I get an error message like "For some reason, [insert game or app name] took too long to start. Please try again.", or "Make sure your sill connected"
(Even though my internet is working fine). Restarting the console usually fixed this, but lately I've been having problems after restarting, such as the Xbox not turning on my TV and sound system, and then when I turn on the TV with the remote I just see
a blank screen. The Xbox sometimes doesn't recognize my external hard drive immediately, and I have to wait a while before I see the message "external storage ready". Sometimes the Xbox can't connect to the internet and my controllers at the same time, and
even plugging the controllers in directly with a USB doesn't get them to connect. The last problem fixes itself after a while, but I feel like my Xbox is slowly dying on me, and eventually it won't work at all. Is there anything I can do to prevent this and
    stop all these problems?

    :)

Hey you are experiencing a great deal of issues, can you give me a list of what you tried doing to prevent the problem, have you contacted the customer support via chat or call are you in the Xbox preview program and are is your console up to date have you
    done, any troubleshooting?

    Thanks.

The only way I know how to troubleshoot my console is by restarting it. I'm not in the Xbox preview program, and I'm pretty sure my console would have automatically updated if it wasn't up to date. I have not contacted customer support, I figured I'd come
here first and see if anyone has had a similar problem and fixed it.

I'm starting to notice a pattern. I'm playing Dark Souls 3, and I end up in an infinite loading screen, so I try restarting the game. I get the "Make sure your still connected" error. I then restart my console using the settings app. My Xbox doesn't turn
on my TV and sound system, and I turn on the TV and see a blank screen. I then restart my console again by holding the power button, and my console goes into the state where it can't connect to the internet or my controllers. After about 5 minutes, that problem
fixes itself but the Xbox fails to connect to the external hard drive until I unplug and plug back in the hard drive.

Alright the only thing i recommend it is a factory reset. It fixes a lot of issues with the console including the pattern bug you are experiencing, so please do that and then use the console for a bit restart it a few times to see if it is actually fixed
if not then it is an internal problem.

Yes it will remove all settings, games and apps but you see, there is no official way of fixing your console, a factory reset will be ideal in this situation and currently there is, more difficult things like using a "offline system diagnostic tool" which
right now you don't, need unless the factory reset doesn't work.

I haven't posted to this thread in a while because I was waiting to see if the factory reset worked, and it only seemed to be temporary fix. The problems are happening again. I chose the factory reset option that didn't delete all my games and apps.

Hey there again a full factory should be in order please chose the option that removes all games and apps so there is no corrupted data that is showing thanks.

Another option if that doesn't work is a Offline Diagnostic Tool' I recommend this if my sentence above does not work.

Do I have to remove all the games and apps on the external storage too?

Tons of problems with my Xbox. I think its dying.

If you're using External Storage, I would suggest doing the factory reset PurpleNurpe referenced above, after unplugging your external storage and leaving it unplugged. After you factory reset, reinstall some of the games (specifically the Dark Souls), and
test to see if the issues arise. If you're using external storage, the games are likely not erased, which means if there is something corrupted that is causing this issue on the external storage, you could be seeing the issue pop back up.

If you don't have the issue using just the Xbox after a reset, then I would suggest formatting your external storage, and moving games back to it.

    Hope this helps!

So I should reinstall the games on the internal hard drive? Rather than just plugging my external back in?

I would. If you move a game then you could move whatever issue you're seeing.
