Tomb Raider - what kind of game is it?

My favourite game of 2013, bar none.

Picking up the Definitive Edition is a no-brainer, for me...and I just know I'm going to love every minute of it...again.

It's a great looking action adventure game that is very polished and looks good and plays well.



Graphics and ease of play are plusses but the ease of play also works against the game because the puzzles aren't very difficult. In this sense it's not unlike "Darksiders" in the way it spoon feeds you the story and presents you with "Connect the Dots"
puzzles that are as difficult to solve as a numbered connect the dots itself.



While the game looks really good and has very fluid movement, much like "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag" if you've had a chance to play that... "Tomb Raider" could have easily starred ANYONE Else.



There's nothing really special about Laura Croft. It could have been "The Tropical Adventures of Bill" but then nobody would really have bought it.



I'm gong to start editorialising her but Ireally hate how the character of Laura Croft has been dumbed down incredibly.



She used to be a strong sexy character. Personally I believe that easy acces to pornography has warped most gamers views of sexuality and far too many players seem to be in arrested development and when they see a female character being sexy they subconsciously
associate it with all the internet pornography they've glutted on and equate these actions as being slutty and/or bad.



So while people have been falling over themselves to say how they think Laura's timid, shocked and stereotypically girly reactions to killing animals and people makes her feel "more real"... the fact of the matter is one of Video Gaming History's greatest
heroines has effectively been spayed and neutered and an alarming number of modern gamers seem to think this was a great idea.



Definately worth picking up but don't expect what you had before. It's new so try to enjoy it for what it is.

Fantastic game, ripped off from PS3 Unchartered. Running at a smooth 720p 30fps on the Xbox One, it's definitely worth a play through if you haven't yet.

Going by some of the comments in this thread I'm in for a real treat next Friday, can't wait

It was a great game. It was my favorite of 2013. It was even better than The Last of Us. It took me about 25 hours to complete.

This Lara is way better than the older version. The controls in this Tomb Raider are light years better than ANY other TR game to date.
