Tomb Raider Definitive Edition Save Game Failing to Load

Hi,

I've just recently got Tomb Raider Definitive edition through Xbox game pass. I realize this is an old game but wondered if anyone has come across this recently.

I got to about 52% through the game to Cliffside Bunker and now when I try to load the save game it just loads to black screen hear some ambient sound and can't do anything. I've tried restarting the Xbox, re-installing the game, deleting save data on the
console to re-sync with cloud save but no luck.

I've found references to this issue but haven't found anything to fix it that works for me. This is annoying as the game has been around for a while and rise of the tomb raider which I've also played had backup saves you can revert back to, would have been
nice if they'd added this to this game as well. Seems they realised it was an issue in the previous game to add back saves in the later tomb raider games.

Very annoying. I'll probably just play shadow of the tomb raider now and then maybe come back to this if I have to restart the game again.

Yes, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will be available as a digital download on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at launch.

You can try a couple of options like perform a
Power cycle on your console or deleting your account and then adding it again, this will sure force the game to sync again for sure.

Yep I also had this issue and found a workaround that worked for me:

Unfortunately you do need to do this every time, but at least you can complete the game...

Hey there TheJodymyster!

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue trying to get Tomb Raider to load.

I would say that if this keeps crashing again and again, the best way for you to start troubleshooting would be for you try the steps outlined in "My
Xbox One game won't start or freezes during gameplay".

If that doesn't resolve the deal, the next thing I would suggest trying would be a soft reset of your console which you can get done following the steps on

How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One. It's a reset of your console back to factory settings but one that does not uninstall any of your games or apps and is a really good troubleshooting
step for most issues.

Just make sure that before you go ahead with it, that you do know all of the sign-in information for any/all of your accounts(asthey
will be removed) and have easy access to your internet network.

Also make sure that you select the option denoted
reset and keep my games
&
apps.
