Tomb Raider - black screen of death

Sixteen crashes in one night! New record..... -_-

So is Microsoft working on a fix for these RAM crashes that our XBox Ones are having?

I attempted to play various games last night (Tomb Raider, Forza 5, Ryse), and got black screen RAM crashes on each multiplayer lobby I went into. I think on Tomb Raider the record was about sixteen crashes.

This is getting somewhat ridiculous.

 

GAMES DONT START, GET KICKED TO HOME SCREEN

The witcher 3 (disc - no DLCs) starts with intro videos then goes to black screen with loading circle/wolf and bottom right for few minutes then i get kicked to xbox one home screen

Rise of the Tomb Raider (disc) shows initial screen shot then goes to black screen for minute or so then i get kicked to xbox one home screen

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition (digital) - wont start, black screen also

I have:

uninstalled, reinstalled

delete saves

reset

wipe disc

go offline, go online

NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING. (note the frustration)

Dear Microsoft please FIX FIX FIX FIX (still havent noted the frustration?)

SIDE NOTE:

best i can tell, Destiny (disc) works fine, just did ROI update that went well, Mortal Kombat X works fine (disc), sunset overdrive (digital) works fine havent tried other games as yet

 

@danielschoen, I also got the answer of the volume from the support, it did not work. Waiting for their next (stupid?) solution...

 

So has anyone found a fix for this yet? Just encountered this for the first time today while at 78%. I am beyond annoyed.

I tried Jules suggestion but it did not fix anything for me.

 

I can also confirm Jules' method does absolutely nothing. Nothing. Chico I was also at 78% exactly.

 

Still in contact with support, in the last email they told me to re-install the game. This does not help though. Their email answers are becoming very sporadic and their suggestions very general, I think they don't have a clear idea on how to fix it.

At this point, I really fear that our savegames are corrupted both in the cloud and locally, and so there is not much to do. Even if they fix this issue such that it will not happen again, our games might still be lost.

I have it and as far as I can tell there has been no response from any of the involved parties (Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics or United Front Games). There is no fix as far as I can tell as I have spent hours searching for one.

 

*** em. i sold my copy. somebody please post here if they release a fix in the future....

 

Just an FYI I got an email response from Square Enix today and it is clear we are on our own for this one. They will not acknowledge, take responsibility or provide any help. Here is what they said:

"Thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX support,

Some users have reported changing the sounds levels to maximum will alleviate the issue you have informed us of. If this has not solved your issue you may want to try to revert to a previous save file and see if the same thing will happen. Doing this will
identify whether the problem lies on the end of the game itself or perhaps the save file. If the problem still persists, we apologize and we suggest you try alternative methods of accomplishing your goal.

If you are finding yourself stuck in the geometry of the game, meaning you cannot move regardless of what you try to do (usually because it's saved that way). There is nothing we're able to do for you, this will require you starting another save file or
reverting to another save point. If the game is damaged or you feel this is a manufacturer defect (something that replacing disc would resolve) please feel free to reply to this ticket.

Thank you for contacting the SQUARE ENIX Support Center."

 

it's a non-answer. if the screen is black and button presses don't even work, obviously you can't adjust the sound (you can't adjust anything)...not that that would remotely do anything. the sound? what the *** does sound have to do with a frozen corrupted
game save...*** these pieces of ***.

they're also well aware that their *** game doesn't create multiple backup saves (like Skyrim, etc) and there would be no rational reason in the gamer's mind to use multiple save slots for the same playthrough. for me, the slots are there for separate playthroughs
(such as on a different difficulty, at a different time, etc.) if we'd known the game was going to be a piece of *** in the first place, ya maybe we would have used multiple slots...

if someone knows who any of the actual devs are, their twitter handles, give 'em to me and i'll contact them directly. my guess is they know. the publisher probably doesn't want to do anything about it and wants it swept under the rug...

 

Here is what i sent to Square Enix piece of ****.

"I was playing my Tomb Raider Definitive Edition on XboxOne when at 57% my game cannot load (after loading time a black screen appears, no buttons work and i only hear some sounds of the game). After some Internet research i found out that many users along
the world have the same problem. Its being said all over that Square Enix has been contacted and you just reply suggesting stupid things about adjusting sound, video, etc, all kind of silly questions that dont solve the problem at all. As a client i want a
serious response from you, cause its visible that it is a software problem (you wont convince me that so many blurays all over the world are scratched). I can guarantee that i wont lost one penny i`ve spent in this game, and if you wont work to solve this
issue i will sue you, and as i can see it wont be difficult to prove you wrong. I want decent explanation, not foolish talk."

 

This blows. I cant even get past 9%. This last time I deleted everything off my console & cloud, deleted the game, deleted my profile on my console, reinstalled the game, resined my profile onto my console, & restarted a new game. Got to the first chest
you open (containing the 1st mask) & my screen went black. I have had to repeat this process about 5 times now never passing the 9% mark.

 

Same problem for me, I just send a message to S-E support, will see...

I was at 69% and don't want to restart all the game, it's far too boring !

Could we exchange some saved games files to replace our corrupted ones?

Today I deleted the save from my console again and then launched Tomb Raider to allow it to re-download the save. Magically when I launched my save file it worked this time! Woohoo!
