To me it's a big deal.

Been an xbox fan since 2001, but just about 3 months ago bought a PS3 just to watch blu ray movies on. Hey, 100 bucks and came with 5 games and a 30 day warranty. Better deal than buying a stand alone blu ray player if you ask me.

Anywho, for the past 4 months via IE on the 360. I can't go to certain websites like I used to. My Churches etc. And when launching the youtube app and trying to watch something. I have to wait for upwards of 10 minutes or more for youtube to even load.
For the past week I thought it might be my internet connection.

So today when that happened. I used the PS3 to see if youtube on it had any problems.. To my amazment... Youtube works flawlessly on it, and so does whatever browser they use. For lo and behold. I can go to my Churches webpage no problem.

What gives?

I posted in the support threads some months back to see if anyone via IE on the 360 would bring up the page, and got a quick answer. 'I can verify that on the 360 using IE it will not load the web page.' And it still wont load the webpage. Yet from my initial
joining of XBL till a few months ago. It did.

Yet on another console (PS3) it loads up almost instantely??

So apart from Youtube. Is Microsoft now picking and choosing which web pages via IE on the 360 that we can view etc? For to me it definetely seems that they are.

Not a big deal for me; no brothers or sisters so it's not a deal breaker.

 

most likely because the ps3 browser is old, most modern browsers are not usually compatible with older sites and some new sites using older code in them and they have to use a compatibility mode, the console version of IE does not have this mode to my knowledge
also IE on the console gets updated more

 

They're meant to be getting rid of IE as well I thought, I'm not sure how that will affect the app, but maybe the website was updated, IE can't run it anymore and Xbox aren't fixing the app.

I actually have no idea and it's probably more what Farscape has said.

 

While I also have a PS3, I've found having a separate BD player has almost been a necessity. The PS3 isn't region-free, and a few of the blu rays I own are from the UK which won't play on it. Luckily, my Samsung is region-free and will play all of them.

 

Strange Electro. My experience is literally the opposite. The internet browser on my other console crashes, locks up the entire console. And the Xbox 360 IB wprks fine.

You tube works fine on both as well.

Perhaps internet speed. As the competitors console is an older version, it requires less

 

I've checked that a thousand times Doc. Net speed up and down is as it should be. Time Warner Cable say's. "it's not something to do our services or speeds."

So for me, that only leaves one answer.

MS via IE on the 360 is picking and choosing what sites you can navigate to.

I even checked a few XXX, Gov, How to, and other sites. No problem loading any of those. Go fig!

But visit a News etc site that isn't part of mainstream media and... "Unable to connect."

 

Only issued I have found is if the page is running on JAVA not HTML5

 

It's most likely your internet causing some problems here. YouTube on the 360 works great for me, and IE is IE You really can't go to too many sites because it isn't as good as a usual browser on PC.
