Titanfall Update 6

Do people still play this?

 

When does this update go live?

 

@GG what I mean is meh. The game is well supported post launch, and I applaud Respawn for that. However all of these features, especially 8v8 shoud have been included at launch. And since its almost fall and better games are coming out its too late for them
to boost player numbers. Hopefully with TF2 they take their time and dont rush the game out.

 

Sorry to hear you feel that way, Akame. I've enjoyed the game from day 1 and still continue to enjoy it. I find it kind of ironic though that your line of thinking mirrors that of many consumers who decided NOT to get an Xbox One. When you really think about
it, it's the same situation - Both Titanfall and the Xbox One started out small and have been getting progressively better. And yet, you take one stance with the console, but take the opposite stance with the game - I find that kind of odd and somewhat hypocritical
(no offense). Then again, a console and a game are 2 completely different things, so I digress. IMO, I hate it when people give up on something because it's not as great as they originally expected and don't bother to give it another chance even when it's
obviously improving by leaps and bounds. As a matter of fact, this seems to be a regular theme with the Xbox One, now that I think about it, as it can also apply (albeit to a lesser extent) to Battlefield 4, Killer Instinct, and many others as well.

Maybe I should make another thread about this, so I can stay on topic on this one.

^I have to agree with this. Most of what the game has now should've been there in the beginning.

Add to it the fact that I never was a big fan of the way they do the 'prestige' aspect. I started getting bored... perhaps burned out would be a better description... when I hit
regen 9. I realized that there were some challenges that I may not be able to get, or at the very least it would take a long time to get them. So all that XP is just wasted.

Sure, I've heard it before from plenty of people... 'So just play the game for what it is, you don't need to level up to have fun'. Problem is, leveling up was part of the fun...
even if I unlocked something I never used, I still felt a sense of accomplishment when I leveled up. Not having that to work toward took away a part of the fun that the game play itself can't make up for.

Even if they added something I really liked and I wanted to give the game another try, it's been so long since I've even touched it that I'd want to bomb around in a SP mode until
I got back at least a little bit of a feel for it. This is the main reason any of the Halo games had such longevity for me. I could give it a nice long break and ease myself back into it via SP when the urge hit me. Of course, that's not an option with TF...
there's no choice but to throw yourself to the wolves.

It was a lot of fun while it lasted, but, sorry Respawn. Too little, too late indeed. Better luck with TF2.

Me too. I worry about lack of versatility though, particularly with the weapons. There's not much choice for weapons like in other games. Not to mention the fact that I imagine the maps are still quite large, even for 16 players - there's lots of open space
(originally meant for the Titans).

 

@GG Did I ever say XB1 wasnt rushed to the market? I dont believe so. It honestly truly was. I do think a number of things were taken away due to the day 1 patch but what they were we will never know. As far as Titanfall goes, I have never once called the
game unfinished, I just think specifically with this update it wont do much to help boost the number of players. I mean Destiny is coming, followed by COD, Sunset and Halo. Titanfall wont die but the player base is already dwindled and I doubt an 8v8 game
mode will do much for it.

 

Respawn is doing a tremendous job supporting this game. Its evolution has been fun to watch unfold.

 

I dont feel like editing my last post but, to compare a console and a game is like comparing food to a stove. Why would you do that? Both Microsoft and Respawn have been working hard to update both but the difference is missing features in a console being
added in will boost sales(not an extreme boost but a slight one) Missing game modes in a game being added wont boost sales of that game. A few people might hop in to check it out but then they will go back to the newer, better games out.

 

Good Point Akame. Don't you think them evolving the game, and adding new game modes is quite common though? Almost every legitimate shooter has added new game modes down the line

 

^^ Have they? I know COD always takes game modes and playlists away. Never seen them add stuff. But my memory is fuzzy on specifics. BF adds game modes? BF4 was my first so I am ignorant about what has been done in the past.

And yes it is great the game is still being updated. I believe I praised Respawn earlier for that, however once September 9th hits how many people are going to be going back to Titanfall? I think TF is a good game, and think that it was rushed out. Not in
the same sense as BF4 but in the sense that more development time would have been good so more could have been included in the final product.

 

I hear you there, Battlefield is not known for adding many game modes. You are right about COD (although CoD: MW3 did add new game modes for the Hardcore group).

As far as Sept. 9th goes, I believe that will put a dent in the numbers for sure.

Perhaps they could have used more time. But I think I read somewhere Xbox told Respawn if they needed more time they could have it, but Respawn was satisfied with the release date, and said they could work with that. Do you recall reading this?
