Titanfall = the death of COD

This game is just fun. I haven't felt this much fun while playing since COD3. I am one of the ones who actually hated Modern Warfare. They dumbed down a historical franchise to make it more appealing to children, and I get that. Children buy games. Well,
their parents do anyway. But I missed the larger maps, vehicles, and strategic play that was necessary when playing COD3. Running and gunning, happening to catch the back of another player, shooting him, and calling it "skill" is stupid. And you're stupid
if you use the word "skill" to refer to anything you do while sitting on your couch, slightly moving your thumbs.

I don't miss player customization or any of the other "Barbie Dolls for Boys" BS that Call of Duty has become over the last few years. Oh look, I can put a pretty outfit on my guy, and even some pretty pretty makeup! This has zero impact on how much fun
it is to play a game.

All in all, I'm having a blast with Titanfall. I doubt I'll ever be able to play COD again. I will miss the verticality and would most likely spend the entire game trying to double jump on top of a building, and be disappointed that I can't do it!

No, I don't think it's a perfect game, but I'll take an imperfectly fun game over a played-out game that has tons of needless choices and customization that I don't need or care about.

 

^^Customization will be in TF before long. Maybe even added in this game, but if not, itll be in part 2 of this game for sure, just saying. I could care less either way, but leaderboards will probably be in part 2 also. Those additions to games (customizing
and leaderboards) add longevity to games, plus we are playing Next Gen games so it should be there if its possible to do, same as with great graphics AND gameplay. Maybe they can add some map destruction and dynamics too, after all, this is Next Gen, just
saying.

 

Map destruction would definitely make things interesting, especially where Titans are involved. Especially if you think vertically. You could run around blowing up all the billboards and things that let pilots stay off the ground for so long, and force
a ground war. I can't even imagine all of the strategies that would emerge from destructible environments.

And I'm sure you're right that barbie doll customization will be on its way for future iterations of the game, little boys love to play dressup with their pretend soliders. But my point is simply that I don't miss these silly things. I don't use them,
and don't care. If anything, I credit Titanfall for being a real return to basics in some respects, and not getting bogged down with pointless distractions like worrying about which outfit my soldier will wear to the big dance this weekend, and just whether
or not he'll even have a date at all.

 

Just because we're on the "Next Gen" doesn't mean that developers should "throw the kitchen sink" into every game. There are a lot of scenarios where simple is better.

I welcome new features and additions to Titanfall in future DLC or future iterations of the franchise. But I hope that they evolve the game - instead of only adding on to it. ...and I really hope they don't let the few individuals in the community who scream
the loudest dictate the course of the game.

 

Playing against bots will never replace COD.

 

"Throwing in the kitchen sink" is exactly what the devs should do. As long as these new Next Gen machines can easily handle it, it should be there. Graphics, destruction, customization, smooth fast gameplay, gore, dedi servers, great audio, etc..... I just
think IMHO that if the system can handle it, we as gamers should get everything. This is Next gen, not PSI. JMHO. I also know that gameplay is more important than grapics, but why cant we have the best of it all, if the systems can do it? JMHO.

 

Mitchell - I agree with graphics, destruction, smooth fast gameplay, gore, dedi servers, great audio. Anything they can do to make the game look, sound and play great is what we should expect.

I don't agree with customization. Customizations need to be limited. The developers should not feel the need to cater to every player's demand. We don't need an on/off switch for every single feature in the game. We don't need 20 different pilot uniforms.
We don't need the option to turn HUD settings on/off.

Every time the developers make an exception to add a new option or customization for the players it takes away from graphics, sound and smooth gameplay. Each time a customization is added the game engine now needs to evaluate whether player X has option
A turned on/off, whether player Y has option B turned on/off, and so on. As these custom options increase more of the game engine's processing power gets dedicated to evaluating options instead of giving us better graphics, sound and smooth gameplay.

That's what I mean by simplicity. Give me better graphics. Give me better sound. Give me smoother gameplay. Just keep the game options and player customizations simple so that my gameplay experience doesn't suffer just for the sake of being able to change
the color of my pilot's helmet.

Yeah, I feel ya. I just want the best experience available (if Next Gen can do it). Alot of customization is OK with me (not in game options though) but character stuff, with weapons and camos (I dont think this is much of a memory issue) but anyways, it
could be those things will be microtransactions (as CoD is doing now) but Respawn has already stated they will NOT have microtransactions. I dont even use camos in CoD, LOL. It was fun 6 or 7 years ago when weapon camos first came along, but not so much anymore.
