Titanfall = the death of COD

I am having a ridiculously fun time with Titanfall at the moment. Will it die down? Perhaps, but it's now been over a week, and my hype train usually de-rails after 5 days if I come to my senses and realise a game is not what I thought it was. Good sign.

 

You're not alone Fatal. I haven't played multiplayer this much since the first gears. Hopefully they put out some kick-*** DLC, cuz i wanna put my season pass to good use.

 

I don't see the problem with IA....It brings more life into the game,you can be kill by AI....Also i'm pretty sure when i will play another multiplayers FPS,the maps will feel empty with just players....

And the big plus in Titanfall are the maps design and the gameplay....And after a week i really start to enjoy it.

 

The more I play it, the more I'm enjoying it as well. I actually don't mind the bots as well, but would like to see 8v8 at least as opposed to 6v6. I haven't played Ghosts since I bought titanfall - that game is dead to me now. It will be interesting to
see what the next installment of COD looks like...

 

Honestly, the moves you can chain together in this game... Yesterday I was playing Attrition on Demeter, and I dropped onto a friendly Titan, then leapt across to assist him with an enemy Titan. I damaged it a lot, then double jumped up onto a roof and chained
a wall run together to get on to the big centre building. I killed two snipers up there, used the MAG launcher to waste the damaged Titan and assist against another, then I called in my Titan, which crushed a guy I didn't even see, I put it in follow mode,
raced across the map to regroup with my friend, then ended up retreating from a Titan by climbing back up the building. I spotted a damaged Titan behind me fighting a Friendly Titan, so I went to assist in blowing it up. I then realised it was MY titan, fighting
on it's own. Ahh, what an awesome game!

 

And fatal, during all this you did not die. You were able to move around for so long and not die. That is where one of my issues with the game lies.

 

I got shot a few times, but no, I did not die. However, immediately after this event I got hit in the face with an Arc grenade. If there were Call of Duty physics in play, I would have died 10 times, maybe more. The maps are designed for Parkour and fast
paced combat. Quick reflexes and quick thinking can get you out of hopeless situations. You are not toast if you get outnumbered in a corner, you Super Mario Wall kick your way up the building and now you have the high ground. The potential for mid-air duels
is high as well.

I appreciate that you are still in love with Call of Duty, and why not? It's a game with an established suite of mechanics that are proven to work so much so that they have hardly changed in several years. However, the behaviour of people online has become
unacceptable. The comments and jeers were fine, its a competitive arena of sorts, but the game has been reduced to camping and thermal sniping.

After the Titanfall beta I went back to Call of Duty. I couldn't help but walk around the map saying, "if this were Titanfall I could get up there... a great place to drop behind enemy lines over there... I wouldn't have died there if I could have jumped
onto that ledge"... and so on. I have high hopes for the next Call of Duty. No, sorry that's an outright lie. I have high expectations for the VISUALS of the next Call of Duty, but Modern Warfare 4? I mean... really? They're gonna have to do better. In search
and destroy on Ghosts I play the same match over and over. Same locations you rush to, same people killed going to the same camping spots... It gets me really frustrated.

Now with Titanfall, it's always different. The maps are bigger, more spacious. I have never played the same game twice, because the swing of battle can force you all over the map depending on where the combat breaks out. Even on objective maps. I'm not saying
that if Titanfall gets a one-life mode there wont be campers, but it's on much bigger maps.

I dunno, I really can't pin-point where the game is standing out. I never get bored. Wall running and chaining wall runs NEVER GETS OLD. Rodeoing an enemy Titan NEVER GETS OLD. Snapping the neck of your opponent NEVER gets old. I should be at least starting
to get bored, but I'm honestly not. I've already clocked more time on Titanfall in the last week than I have on Call of Duty Ghosts and Battlefield 4 SINCE I BOUGHT THEM AT LAUNCH.

The game wont be for everyone, but it was MADE for me. And you can die by the way, very easily. If you are up against a clan or a group of high Gens you will die a LOT. I finish with a negative K.D a lot, but I don't rage or even get angry because it's just
so much fun to play.

Fatal, you make great points, and if you didn't die during a match, that is SKILL! Only a few times I've gone in a match a didn't die, but occasionally I get smoked too. And it's the subtleties of Titanfall that adds to the game. Like tearing a guy out of
his titan and throwing him against a wall, or ripping his arm off and beating him over the head with it. Even when the bots fight each other, it's hilarious. (Saw one grunt holding the arms of the enemy while his buddy beat him up...lol) ...As for COD, I willing
to bet the game would be better served if they got rid of stats altogether. Too many people play for their K/D, like it's a mark of achievement or something. Even though I think they did a great job with Ghosts, the game is frustrating to play.

 

I think Call of Duty would benefit from a 'Post nuclear apocalypse' scenario where you are scavenging supplies and your goal is not your KD, but to keep as many of the survivors safe, and to make sure the enemy doesn't steal your supplies. It's a thought,
and it would take a gargantuan effort to make it into a Multiplayer mode, but that is the sort of thing that would get people playing for their team, not their K.D. What we need is for games to really reward teamwork. Not just a few extra XP, but really lavish
the praise and ribbons on the selfless soldier putting himself in harm's way for his teammates. When winning is truly the prize, and kills aren't even tallied, or at least not stored in any leaderboards, then we will have excellent multiplayer back. Titanfall
is a great start, because I always feel like I'm doing something to contribute to my team's score.

I agree with the OP. I got bored of the COD games after WAW and have not bought any COD games since. WAW was by far the best COD IMO. Now I usually rent the COD games, get bored, after a few days and return the rental. Titanfall is indeed a nice new
breath of fresh air. However, titanfall isn't for everyone. Some COD players simply do not like having to deal with vehicles in a game. Let alone a powerful Titan. So I can see where some COD players will not enjoy Titanfall. I personally think the
game is wonderful. Reminds me the most of Halo 4 and BF3 with the mechs and vertical gameplay.

 

Hated this game at first, just thought it was COD with wallrunning, im 35 hours into it and its still fresh, was gonna ebay it after 2 hours lol. Get a good party of freinds cracking, forget the stats and have fun, thats what this game is abut, FUN.

 

Forgot all about Patriots. Vegas 2 was meh, but we put it hundreds of Vegas 1 time back then. Bring that back ASAP.

 

The bots really *** it up for me. I predicted by playing the beta this game would have a 1 to 2 month shelf life and people will move back to BF and COD. I like having to play a whole team against real players and the lack of an actual campaign sorts of
killed for me also. At least playing a campaign you get the feel of what the game is about. This game sort of reminds me of Timesplitters with the pace of the game. All in all I said with the bots it would kill the game and it has for me. Ghosts pretty much
killed COD for me and BF is shaping up very nicely with the DLCs. I am not bashing the game but maybe they can put a patch to add the bots as real players. If not then I just don't see this game lasting too much longer.
