Titanfall = the death of COD

Pretty much dead on. Enough of the old mixed in with enough of the new. I get the feeling we are all playing the REAL beta now, and it's just going to get alot better from here. It's bare bones for a reason, and that reason is that Respawn is trying an
experiment and if it takes off, it's going to mean good things for the genre. Couple this with the fact that the developers are going to start using the hardware to it's full capacity in about a year, and I have big expectations for this game franchise. I
expect others will try to copy it.

Where do you think this game ranks among COD and BF

^ The last COD I enjoyed was WAW. It was also the last COD I purchased. Truly loved that game especially the 4 player co-op campaign, death cards, gore and much more. Now I only rent the COD games. I haven't rented Ghosts yet but the last COD I enjoyed
was WAW.

Titanfall truly is in a league of its own. A unique experience for sure which is refreshing in this overwhelming world of FPS.

 

In what color is your homescreen shining at you?

Currently have red tiles and the background is the death from above achievement artwork from Titanfall.

 

Titanfall is a brilliant platform to make an amazing series of games. Its very exciting.

 

I am patiently waiting for RE$PAWNs real exciting next gen fps. I was let down by this TF game.

 

Honestly I have been playing MADDEN and NHL14 on both my consoles. I was happily awaiting for Rainbow sic Vegas patriots game but that has been horribly delayed. The Tom Clancy installment looks like something I might go with.

 

I actually had Patriots pre-ordered and payed off at one point, lol.

 

Sad day when that was cancelled then restarted. If they can get it in by 2016 it will have been 8 years since the last Rainbow Six, and that wasn't as good as Vegas 1.

 

Its exactly what they did with Ghost Recon. Most don't remember the early days, but Ghost Recon was the king online console shooter. Then it got pushed back, and pushed back, and then everybody moved on to CoD with the release of the 360. When Advanced
Warefighter finally dropped it was meaningless. The community had moved on.

 

Well look at Watchdogs. That's gone from being potential goty to being "I'll see what reviews are like". That delay killed a lot of interest in it.

 

I've always thought that publishers/developers announce games way, way to early. I'd like to see someone wait until like 3-6 months from the actual release date before they say a word. Then ramp up the marketing. It just kills these games when they are
marketed a year and half to two years before they drop and then they are done if they get delayed. Everybody just moves on. Watch what happens with The Division.

 

The announcement that EA secured the rights to Titanfall and then IGN speaking about Titanfall 2 already was definitely very early considering the game only just launched and hasn't even got it's 1st DLC. I haven't played COD since MW3 personally but I'm
more of a Sci Fi shooter.

 

I don't agree... for me, at least, Titanfall was unsatisfying as a FPS... Killing bots? Anyone can do that... Fighting a Titan in AI Mode? Why bother, it's just another bot... too many bots, not enough real players on the field... difficult to find and engage
the real players... for me, a FPS multiplayer shooter is all about gun on gun, me against you gameplay... I want to know that every enemy I see, every moving vehicle I see, is an actual player that will either kill me or be killed by me... if the player count
was upped and real players were allowed to replace the bots, Titanfall might be interesting... as it is, game minute for game minute, COD gives me more action and more visceral player to player gunfights than Titanfall. (BTW, I traded TF is yesterday, got
$42 store credit... not bad)

 

I too have been playing games since the pong era but my impression of TF is quite different than yours. To me, it seemed too bland and forcing players to play multiplayer is fine, but forcing them to play with bots is horrible. I think for the price of
the game, there should have been more options to customize your character and load outs. Maybe in my case it is just that I have played FPS for so long that nothing is new anymore. idk *shrug*

Agree with your take on things mike...for the most part. I've been playing a long time as well. Since pong would be a stretch, but close. I was there at the beginning of COD -- before it became the money-making behemoth it is today. Loved it back in those
days, and was especially fond of COD 3 and its resemblance to RTCW. I was along for the ride when things 'modernized' and found some great gameplay with both MW and MW2. That was the last title I played of the COD series until the most recent release of Ghosts.
I was hoping to wrap myself in nostalgia and rekindle an old spark with an old familiar series. Ghosts, however, was a bit of a let down. I can't speak for the experience on the consoles as I do most of my gaming these days on PC, but the Ghosts PC experience
is a 'frustrating' one at most times and an unbearable one the rest. Going beyond the technical problems which plagued that title, the gameplay felt familiar...too familiar, but also unnatural...too processed. Its hard to describe. Its as if they've tried
to stick to a magic formula at its core (which has now staled) while trying to put a new shiny sheen on the surface in a desperate attempt to keep it fresh.(unnecessary, often out-of-place gear, perks, etc.) I liken it to trying to eat a piece of plastic fruit.
It looks good on the surface, but is utterly impossible to comfortably digest at this point. Maybe its purely the novelty of Titanfall that has me loving this game, but i don't think so. Its more than that. The gameplay has an epic pace to it. The battles
which play out, supply me with the same sense of satisfaction and enjoyment that the old CODs would provide. Maybe the old Infinity Ward crew -- the guys who made COD great back in the day, just know what makes a great game for the times. I guess time will
tell. Agree with you about the lobby time being a little too extreme, but disagree with you about the integrated campaign. Felt a little cheap to me. Don't mind this model so long as the unique multiplayer content we're given at launch makes up for the loss
of the single player experience, and I just don't feel that 15 maps was enough. Should have been closer to 20 at launch. The multiplayer campaign was also lacking in consequence. There needs to be a greater reason to strive for victory and some sort of punishment
for defeat. The campaign mission path should branch differently depending on the outcome of previous battles. With that said the game is still a top notch title in my books. I can't say it will kill COD, but it will certainly force Activision to re-examine
what they're currently doing with that series.
