Titanfall: over priced, waste of time?

I just thought I'd share my thoughts on Titanfall. It is currently retailing for around £50 with map packs available at £20 each. The problem is the match making is absolutely awful. It can take a full hour to find a game of anything but attrition and now
after the last update there is a constant problem with connecting to matches without being put back to the main screed with the error code "session lost" or something similar. It's a joke. Even if you don't want to play online, you can't enjoy the campaign
as the whole thing is basically a team death match/domination without any real story line. Is it worth it? no. Do not buy this game.

Anyone else think this is a bit overpriced?

It's not over priced if you get a lot of use out of it.

I have spent £50 in the past on games that may last only 10 hours before you complete it.

So that's £50 for only 10 hours of play

But titanfall being multiplayer can keep you playing far longer. Depending on how much you like the game you could actually get hundreds of hours eventually. So it's not over priced if you enjoy the game and keep playing.

 

Crysis to cost the same for both systems..

If people want to waste money on over priced games let them who cares, im alot richer for renting and buying arcade games when they are on offer, i do this with other purchases in my daily life that's why im driving a Mercedes.

 

Map packs are £7:99 each , by the way . £20:00 for season pass , equivalent to three map packs.

 

I justify my game purchase by the amount of hours I think I will put into a game, and so far I've put a lot of hours into Titanfall - so the price tag has been well worth it for me. It's never taken me longer than a minute to
get in a game, it usually takes me 20-30 seconds to find a lobby. As much as I would love for Titanfall to have a traditional campaign, I'm glad they tried something different even though it has not worked out. I even think the season pass and DLC are work
the price tag. Yes, with Expedition we only got three maps, but so far I love the maps and I don't usually like DLC maps.

 

Hi guys, I've been receiving a lot of vitriolic comments regarding this post. Please try and keep in mind this is just my opinion and I was hoping to start a discussion, not an argument. I know a lot of you are saying it doesn't take long to get into games
but for me it can take a ridiculously long time as I've said. In any case, I just think the game is a little overrated and was really disappointed with the campaign.

 

Disagree respectfully. Well worth the asking price. No trouble finding match in any mode. In game choices are plentiful. Weapons are perfectly balanced. No stroke inducing BS killcam deaths (Like CoD). People don't really camp in the main mode. I'll
be happy to continue supporting respawns efforts.

 

adamnug93, I have to agree somewhat. The matchmaking has been horrible on the One for me and all the people I game with. And the "lost connection to server" issue that happens when checking stats/burn cards. And it can take a while at times to find games
for some reason. Everyone I know that plays this has these problems. Not to mention the posts on the Respawn forums so we are not the only ones. My ping times are fantastic but the game still has lag. And I was thinking it was me even with the great ping
and open NAT but apparently the other players in the game were all getting it. And it happens a lot. Not to mention the frame rate drop if much is going on. Honestly, not as much trouble with the 360 version.

Still, when the matches work it is fun for sure. But so are a lot of other games. The plus to this one is it requires much less skill and is more relaxed an casual. I won 69% on 360 and was MVP in a large majority of the wins and was top 3 almost every
match. And I am not what you would call a hardcore fps player.

 

Titanfall is the bestselling game right now. Also, have you noticed nobody trades it in? I find all the other xbox one titles used except for Titanfall. So I guess not everyone agrees with you, Adam.

 

Over 100 hours played... Yep... Total waste of money.

But seriously, liking a game is a subjective thing... What doesn't work for you, does for someone else.

There are a few issues... Personally matchmaking has been a bit hit and miss, getting booted when in the menu isn't great, and server lag (between servers) does contribute to it seeming like you're getting shot through walls. But all in all, if it doesn't
work for you, that's a shame, but you just have to move on...

Titanfall is the only game I'm playing right now... And I have a love/hate relationship with it.

 

Wow! I thought the guys in Europe didn't had this problems too. So if you have the same problem like me (Canada) the guys in Australia and the one in Middle East (let me guess after the update?), that would mean it is a Respawn issue (the update). After
the update I can't find a game under 20 minutes waiting time. If I finally get into one, it kicks the other team after some games and the waiting time is endless again. The connection is another thing. I have 60ms in the morning and on weekdays before 4pm.
After 4pm and on weekends I'm getting now 72-84ms. EA traced already and checked my connection what is fine. OK the price. I would say you are right about it, because it is only a "half" game. I am not buying anything from the Titanfall titles anymore. Also
no DLC until they fix their game incl. connection.

 

Titanfall was the first game i have played on the XB1 as it came with the console when I brought it! - I wasn't overly impressed to begin with - especially as the campaign is pretty much multi player with a small 'storyline'

However, the more i play it the more i want to at the moment - I'm not the best 'gamer' - i haven't re-generated yet and i am somewhat slower then a lot of people but I do love the gameplay!

One problem is the matchmaking though, for example, i just need Odyssey as IMC to get that particular achievement - but getting that map on IMC is a pain in the you know what!

In relation to map packs, I will probably buy them (season pass probably) as i think it will perk up the interest a little bit!

If there is oe thing i love about the game is that there are no campers - that has to only be a good thing IMO!

 

Game is still a lot of fun, but I'm getting sick of getting booted every time I check my challenges or tinker with my load outs.

 

^ Lol, that's really frustrating. I'm usually in a party, so when we get kicked for being "inactive" I have to invite everyone again. I'm still enjoying the game, a lot!
