Tips for speeding up or "repairing" the Xbox 360 Slim?

I want to lend it to my GF for stuff like the Mass Effect trilogy and all, but for some reason it's REALLY REALLY SLOW. I am not exaggerating when I say that boot up time is close to an hour and a half. It's not a hard drive issue, I've taken it out and
boot is still incredibly slow. Clearing cache didn't help, nor factory reset. Any warranty is gone,, and I've tried replacing the thermal paste and even adding small heatsinks to the memory chips around the board, but nothing works. And even while playing
games, menu loading and connection times take about an hour as well. Aside from dropping 70 dollars on ebay for another one, is there a way to fix this? Maybe some kind of memory flash, or something?

It depends on how fast your internet connection is. The internet explorer with my internet speed can almost keep up with my laptop. The Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 slim are going to operate at the same speed though

I think we have a misunderstanding here. I believe the OP is having an issue with the on-board memory on their 4GB Xbox 360 Slim, correct?

If that is the case, then depending on the age of their machine, they either need to return it to the store or set up a repair with Xbox support. The 4GB in the Slim should not be asking to be formatted unless there is a fault with it.

Xbox One shouldn't take any longer than it takes Xbox 360 Slim to boot up or shutdown. It uses a better CPU even though the clock speed is 1.75Ghz.

As davemcfly85 said, they are talking about the first and original Xbox. They still do repairs on Xbox 360, Xbox 360 Slim, and the Kinect. So to clear everything up, you have nothing to worry about.
