Tip for Online Tailing.

Thought I'd share some tips on how I tail online, this mode can be real fun IMO. It's hard to complie points as losing always means negative points, losing is getting killed or quitting... I used these methods to climb a lot on the leaderboards (from 20k
to the top 30):

- Unlock the destoryer sniper, disables vehicles in one shot so you can always escape.

- Always try to use a vehicle to observe, if they're off road leave the vehicle as close to you as you can and hide behind cover... it's your only guaranteed ticket out of there.

- For those camping at CToS towers waiting for you, use cameras - they can see you doing it so they either let you win or come out of their hole.

- Blending in on foot is a sure way of losing, aka much easier to get a shot in the face.

- NEVER quit, you can leave before profiling and not lose any points, but only if they don't know you're there... I've found most know you're there.

- If they're far away (1000m) you can fast travel.

- Use a fast bike if you can (I go 200m away order one on the app, then go in for the profiling)... bikes are faster, can get to hard to reach places, and much harder targets for snipers.

- Go straight in for the profile, then get 80-100m away (they need to profile you from 40m to win - or shoot you)... I step out and point my sniper crosshair at them as it makes the percentage move up quicker.

- If they're going for a car always shoot it with the destroyer, they fo out of sight and you've only 30secs to catch up so it's better they know you're there and start looking giving you more observation time.

- My favourite is drive up, profile, make it obvious I'm not an NPC (burnout or something), then drive at consistant running speed about 70m away and let them chase you until you win.

- If you end up in a car chase, use blackout to stop the environment hacks, and never stop (they will get less and less time/distance for you to escape).

I'm sure they're plenty of other tricks you guys use, altohugh I can say with confience the destoryer sniper is the most valuable tool for tailing and escaping, and slow-mo is a great way to check if someones tailing you.

Frame rate dips anyone?

Yea my dips are always most noticeable with online stuff, or as you said 'heavier moments'. I play a lot of online tailing, every game when finished it stays in online mode - you'll see the blue loading circle to the left and slow-mo doesn't work - when
it finishes the frames immediately dip even further (kinda judders) and then speeds up back into single player frame rates. I use slow-mo to check for people tailing, you could try that when you experience issues to see if it's the case.

 

Question about cloud storage and automatic game sync

Thank you for that quick reply Galactic Geek and yes, I have thought about doing that but then I wouldn't be able to do the online hacking, tailing , decryption or ctOS mobile challenges...which to me are some damn fun times in the game.

Great tips! If I can add: when you're hacking or tailing someone, and they stop to look at their phone... that is the moment to use a blackout.

Also, when you're being hacked use Jam Signal. You can only use it once, and it stops the hack for a few moments. Use it post 75%, as it gives you more time to search a smaller area.

 

I found the best way that i could succeed would be hiding within vehicles, especially when tailing, and/or using the cameras around the city. It also worked pretty well when i was the one getting invaded, as i would either see the person coming or hear the
vehicle they're driving.

 

Yea good point with using blackout when they're on the phone, had to do that last night to stop from being camera profiled. Also yes Jam Signal is great for hacking mode, and decryption mode.

I'd change the bike idea to the 200k performance car... Turns out some are pretty good at shooting you off it, the 200k fastest car has blocked out back windows and a large rear so they can not snipe you through the back window (happened me many times in
other cars).

Last night (after changing to the 200k car) I played unbeaten for a few hours.
