  1. Time limit on Xbox

Xbox needs to change settings to be able to set time limits in any account. When my son got an Xbox we just signed him up with an account using my info. Now I can’t set time limit for him without making him a new account. Please make this easier soon!!!

***move from Gaming and Xbox / Hardware and network / Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One***

    Time limit on Xbox

Thank you for your reply! My son’s account is set up using the primary account with my information. I’m not seeing a way to transfer this. It would be much easier to set a time limit for the Xbox regardless of who is playing it. He is the only account and person that uses the Xbox. I hope that in the future Microsoft will rethink the process to make it easier.

    Time limit on Xbox

    Hello Amber Russell,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

It appears that you are having challenges in setting time limits in any account. Let us help you how to get to the bottom of this.

To set time limits for your son's account, you will need to create a family group and add his account to it. Once you have created a family group, you can set time limits for his account from the Microsoft Family Safety app or website. And it requires your son or any member that you wish to add in a family group to have his own Microsoft account.

To create a family group, please follow these steps:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account on the Microsoft Family Safety website or app or go this link: https://family.microsoft.com

    2. Select "Create a family group" and follow the prompts to add your son's account to the group.

    3. Once your son's account is added to the family group, you can set time limits for his account.

    Time limit on Xbox

    Hello Amber Russell,

Thank you for getting back with the thread.

It is really an interesting topic to include single account not in Microsoft family settings app to set a time limit in game play or accessing the device. Just like the mobile phones nowadays that there is a screen limit usage. We encourage to provide your feedback using report problem online report on Windows feature. You can find it here: Provide feedback to Team Xbox | Xbox Support

We have suggestion in your case so that you can create a Microsoft Family group. Since your child used most of your account for gaming, how about creating an alias to that account making it your child account and make your own account? In the long run, the achievements and progress of the game of your child will increase and the game saved data for every game played is tied up to that account. Additionally, you can then create a family group and as an organizer you can set time limit and other restriction for your child's account. This is just a suggestion because I have encountered this kind of scenario where in the long run it gets complicated.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Sincerely,
