Time for upgrade of Xfinity HDMI Input

Its crazy that I can not simply hit record from the guide part of the X1. That is for the most part the only reason I use the guide to see what to record and watch later. It also seems dumb you cant record shows on your X1 hard drive, the hard drive is
only so big so its not like you can keep shows for ever. Once the 500 gig is full its time to delete, delete, delete.

XBOX ONE X is NOT compatible with 4K compatable cable boxes

The HDMI inputs on all Xbox One models only do up to 1080p, as they are HDMI 1.4. There are no planned upgrades (or updates) for the input port, and I’m not sure if it’s even possible.

I’d suggest plugging your cable box into a different HDMI input on your TV instead, if available.

my bet is that there will not be any of the tv apps on x1, they used the hdmi input for that to make sure people had a cable box hooked to the x1 to play that stuff. I think that an improved xfinity app could have included live tv and even DVR function
but Xfinity tightened the screws. My son is in college and uses the xfinity app on 360 from his dorm and gets everything but live tv that I pay for. I feel better about getting some more value out of a huge cable bill.

 

everyone knew the XB1 would not be capable of DVR functions... only basic controls of pause, play, FFW and REv.

not that hard to pick up your OEM TV remote and press record is it?

 

another all in one oops. Yes I knew it would not be a DVR but no I did not know it would not control my cable box. Originally I figured it would just take a cable card in place of the HDMI Input, that would have saved electricity. Now that its a HDMI
input it should have had pass through to also save energy

 

This is coming in a future patch.

 

It works quite well to be honest and is a great addition.
