Ticking sound coming from xbox one x

Hi all

I recently upgraded to the one x

My problem is that, when initially powered up, a faint ticking sound can be heard from one of the fans. This will continue for a few minutes when the console has been powered off. You can't hear it during gameplay as the main fan comes alive which drowns
out any faint sounds, so I suspect this sound could be coming from the PSU fan if this is seperate - perhaps a loose bearing ? I don't want this to become a bigger issue over time.

I have tried requesting a call back from MS and unfortunately my request doesn't come to fruition. I fully appreciate they are likely to be up against it with skeleton staff and such right now but its odd that their site even offers call-backs with wait
times in the 25 minute region. I put in another request half hour ago when the wait time waS 77 minutes to hopefully I get lucky with it tonight.

The retailer I bought it from has offered to take a look at it but I don't want to waste my time if this is fairly standard. Plus it seems that nowhere in the UK has stock right now so I would be without an xbox for some time.

Sorry for your issues. The ticking you heard is not normal (mine doesn't do it) but it isn't uncommon. If you are worried about it, you can submit a device repair ticket at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/devices.
Otherwise, sorry you haven't been able to get a call-back

Do microsoft still run the service where they send you a new console I'm advance of returning the faulty one ?

My console does the same thing. When I turn it to power saving mode the whole system shuts down and the ticking noise stops. It's a very weird ticking sound and is def coming from the console.

I'd just like an official answer to why the console emits this weird ticking sound when in standby?

My issue is that the fan ticks. The console is set up in a bedroom. When everything is turned off (or on standby), I hear this fast "tick, tick, tick" from the Xbox One PSU. I specifically built my PC to be as close to silent as I could make it, so I can
even hear the Xbox One PSU ticking over the sound of my PC when that's turned on. I'm not saying that the noise is "loud", because it's not. But any noise that can clearly and constantly be heard when a product is supposedly turned off is not good, especially
an annoying ticking sound.

I have the Series X and the One X presently. I don't have the tickling issue though but I searched on YouTube like you said and in my experience, it isn't something to worry about.
