    Thumbstick Fix

    Hi everyone,

So i have a controller that the left stick broke on. During normal gameplay, nothing excessive or anything. In fact i had just bought this controller like 2.5 weeks prior to the stick breaking. Its not a cheap one as its a well known pro gaming controller.

I won't name the company for a few reasons...

•It really doesnt matter because i have gone thru about 30 contollers with the exact same issue from Microsoft brand standard ones to elite and elite series 2 all the way to the most generic $20 controller...

•This discussion/question covers everything. Every brand of controller because the part we're going focus on is the thumbstick module itself.

•Microsoft backs them up with an official license

•I won't plug another company on here because im more business focused/appropriate than that

•I have a lot of respect for Microsoft (aside from this thumbstick fiasco theyve put us thru)

    BACK ON TOPIC

So, at this time when the controller broke, i was no noob at opening controllers and soldering new modules on. Only to experience the same terrible results over and over...

This night in particular was a bad night. I use my gaming to focus and take escapes from the harsh reality of the world some times. Its literally my only sanctuary.

Well it was about 1AM and the Pandemic just started. I wasnt getting a controller for a while because of the time, the timing, and the fact that i wasnt eligible for unemployment (whole different fiasco.)

I took all of the knowledge from the other 28 controllers i had break on me and opened and gutted and studied etc... I've been doing this for 10 years now remember? Lbvs.

Well that night i got creative, logically creative, backed by knowledge of the broken piece, the contents inside the piece, the exact same issue on about 30 controllers and i had noticed the same defect on every controller... Specifically the left stick module on every controller i had broken.

So, i took all the stuff i had learned and tossed in my creative guy brain, and i was able to fix the controllers thumbstick module for about .05¢.

    Yes FIVE CENTS!!!

And i proceeded to fix 15 more the next day (I kept all my broken ones.)

That was the last time i bought an xbox controller...

I'm still using that that professional gaming controller i mentioned above... I havent had to reapply the fix; to any of them. I have used random ones variously along with the professional controller and they have all held up.

This year has been the longest amount of time I've gone without needing to purchase a new controller since launch. And its my fix that did it...

    •What should i do?

•Should i try to shop this to Microsoft?

    •How do you do that?

•Do i shop it to a Microsoft competitor so they can make solid controllers and Microsoft can visit Karma Road?

I'm genuinely lost here at the moment on what to do.

I dont want to give up and deny us all a good and solid, funtional controller.

I dont want to release it for free, because this is the type of idea that will make millions and that would make me an idiot.

I dont want to sell it to microsoft if they wont use it as intended and instead sweep it under the rug cuz controller breakage is probably their #1 income generator.

I respect and love microsoft and all the amazing stuff they've given ME/US over the years. But that doesnt change the fact that weve all been kinda screwed with this issue and we deserve better.

So, I'm not sure what i should do and i posted this here because id truly like to discuss it so hopefully the right person sees this.

    Thank you all in advance,

    -Piff Erton

    :)

    Thumbstick Fix

I have paddles on the back of my pro controller so I feel it... While the stick does break due to pushing it in any direction and clicking it in to run/honk/eagle eye etc... It's not too hard on the components really... Like the button and the arm that press it are perfectly fine on almost every controller I fixed with my fix...

That being said you are correct. It does break cuz of the way it's set up as directional and as a click button. But it's a structure issue and it was the same on every one of my controllers. Same on other people's controllers I've fixed as well...

The extra clicky, sticky, catchy, poppy and broken stick that we've all experienced too many times, is literally due to one thing, and this thing needs to be fixed... Well I'm the only person I've heard anything about doing this... I can say it's worked so far for a year.

So this is just something that's been widely overlooked. Once you see it you'll never unsee it.

i have always insisted that damage to the left stick is caused by pressing forwared and clicking down to run in games, it causes to much undue stress to the component, this is why i have invested in a power a controller with the 2 rear button, one is jump and the other is run and have not had an issue with the sticks again.

    Elite Controller LEGACY STICK REMAPPING

This would fix so many problems with simply playing games period. It would grant equal access to all games on Xbox for Legacy Thumbstick players instead of just the games whose developers are aware of and add Legacy Thumbsticks as an option in the settings
    menus.

It's quite ironic that the Elite Controller (presented as letting players play how they prefer), despite it's obvious advantages over the normal Xbox Controller, does not have the original console thumbstick layout. It seems like such a simple fix, to swap
the X-axis of the sticks. This would let me play all the games I've wanted to buy, like The Witcher, and literally thousands of other games that lack Legacy Thumbsticks. Yeah, it really is a metric ton of games that don't have Legacy Thumbsticks and this could
    fix that! Seems

Xbox series X controller left stick constantly registered as pushed in

Hi and thanks for reaching out. I hope you’re doing well. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I'll be happy to help you.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the left thumbstick on your Xbox Series X controller. It's possible that the thumbstick is not properly calibrated or that there is some debris stuck under the thumbstick. To fix this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Calibrate the thumbstick.

    2. Clean the thumbstick and the area around it. Use a soft cloth and some rubbing alcohol to gently clean the thumbstick and the area around it. This can help remove any dirt or debris that may be causing the issue.

    3. Check for debris. If there is debris stuck under the thumbstick, it could be causing the thumbstick to register as being pressed when it is not. Carefully inspect the thumbstick and use a small tool, such as a toothpick or a pin, to remove any debris that you find.

    4. Check the controller's firmware. Make sure that you have the latest firmware installed on your controller.

If none of these steps fix the issue, it's possible that there is a problem with the controller itself. In this case, you may need to consider sending in your controller to have it repaired/replaced.
