Thumbstick clicks when I rotate it (not clicking down on the stick)

As the title says, the thumbstick clicks when I rotate it and move it up, down- left and right respectively.

It doesn't affect the functionality of the controller, but the click clack sound pulls my attention from the game... I tend to fidget with the stick slightly more and more because there's a part of my mind that feels if i move it a certain way, eventually it will stop. I find myself missing massive parts of a game because of this click noise, and it keeps me out of focus when I play competitively.

I can use my headset and I'll never hear the click, but I don't want to always have my headset on when I have a nice soundbar on my entertainment system

I'm reluctant to send it for a replacement as this is literally my 3rd controller in the past 2 months that I have sent in for a replacement. And each one is littered with the same exact issues, wobbly loose thumbstick, clicky thumbstick, is this just the story of Xbox controllers? I've been with PlayStation for so many years now and I come back to Xbox only to be greeted with constant back to back controller issues... maybe I have expectations for a controller set way too high, but surely as a gaming company they want to at least give a quality product.

Anyways, should I even bother sending this back in or what? I don't know if it's worth it at this point, I'm far out of my warrant with Xbox, but not with Microsoft... not sure how that works. I would love just a brand new replacement but I know that's just not possible, seems like with my back to back problems I would be compensated with something of some sort.

The joystick has a 90-day warranty, microsoft does not carry out out-of-date repairs.

Still is not working like the left stick. the thumbstick works fully except for the click down feature

I only have a 360 but just in case try clicking down on the thumbsticks. I think on the 360 they changed the stream display to pop up when you click one of the sticks down (can't remember which stick offhand and I can't try it for you because I'm at work
on a break). Hopefully it's the same for the One.

in third person hold the right stick in, click it in, and up and down on the left stick determines how close it is in 3rd person, left and right on the left stick lets you rotate around your character.

I have the same problem only it started AFTER I replaced the left thumbstick. Now the click is intermittent. It only happens in Halo games where left click is sprint. Rarely when you click it will STAY sprinting. Most of the time you have to HOLD DOWN the
stick to stay sprinting. Sometimes it won't work at all. This all happens during the same game play. I replaced the left thumbstick because it was old and wouldn't return all the way to center. Now the left click won't work properly. I've tried 3 different
brand new stick components from 2 different suppliers and the same thing still happens. All the new sticks check out on the multimeter. Does anybody have any clue?
