Thoughts on Dear Esther.

Is it any good? I hear it's only about 2 hours and that you do not do anything except walk and basically listen to the story. It's a PC game from 2008 but I've always kind of been intrigued by this game.

Is it worth the €7.99 asking price?

I saw that today , looks pretty interesting. I might buy it when I buy Alan Wake. Im very happy allan wake came out finally. When the PC versio nwas canceleld i swore to not buy the game on consoles. Now that its out and at a cheap 29.99 im jumpng on it.

i thought i would start the post on that, cuz thats how i felt. i just finished the game on my pc. its a 3 hour long game that just came out a couple days a ago, well the remake did, the original was a source mod.

fyi, mods or admins please dont lock this thread, this game has all the makings to be a xbla convert, it deserves some attention.

has anyone else bought it? id like to hear some feed back and your thoughts on the game and the ending!

Didn't try it think I will though I like a lot of those other walking simulators like oxenfree

 

Had this game installed on my ps4 for a while now but never got round to playing it.

Played the demo of Virginia and it's a similar concept to this sort of game, but it's so weird and intriguing that I thought it's worth paying the £7.99 for it to see what happens.

 

Lol I thought this had something to do with the TV programme That's Life !!! Dear Esther Rantzen! !

 

There are a few new releases this week that are intriguing. Virginia looks cool too. I might grab that and Dear Esther.

Looks like my type of game, i will give this a go later tonight and report back. I too get what your on about boozy, glad its not that lol

Im finding it quite a good little game, its quite relaxing and slow paced. It will need two playthroughs, one to play as normal listening to the narrator of the story, and for the directors commentary. The directors commentary is very well done, you simply
collect notes and they talk about each section as you move along, gives you a great insight into how the game came to be.

In essence though all you need to do is walk and take in the scenery and story as you move through the game, the narrators comments are triggered when you reach certain areas so you will want to walk everywhere possible as not to miss one. Well worth the
£6.39 i paid, its 20% off at the moment.

 

How long did it take you to complete?

 

Checked my profile and it says 5 hours, thats going through twice though, found it to be excellent, you dont realise how much thought went into it until you listen to the directors commentary.

I played virginia today aswell, of the two, dear esther was more enjoyable but virginia is still a good experience
