Meh. People just like what they're used to I suppose.

Deus Ex is a latin title and establishing itself as a successful franchise again. If I found out there was a version in a different country simply titled 'Augment' or something, it'd be alien to me and I'd reflexively feel like it didn't fit, and the person
who bought Augment: Human Revolution would probs think Deus Ex is a freaky title.

When I said titles can be gibberish until you play them I meant like, I've been playing FUSE cooperatively lately. It could easily have been called Overstrike (it nearly was). FUSE is the name of the energy source in the game, Overstrike is the code name
for the team of characters you control. You can try to guess what the game is about from the title, but you have to play it to know. Or read the back cover blurb. lol Which is what I probably did with Canis Canem Edit.

I liked the title Canis Canem Edit. I bought the game with that on the cover above the Bullworth Academy (they could have called it that, lol) emblem. It was only later I learned it was Bully elsewhere. Heh. I prefer Canis Canem Edit. It's a clever gob-full
for a great game. =)

I Almost bought everything in import back in the ps2/xb day, In Australia it wasn't just the name, it was also the censorship. Rather then take a risk with a Rockstar title it was just easier to import. On this topic, My favorite Sega Saturn game was call
Exhumed here in aus, It was called Powerslave in the U.S.. I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and Guess it was called Exhumed in the U.K? Powerslave is also the title of an Iron Maiden album, I have done no research but I'll guess thats it. And Powerslave
has other meanings that are not family orientated.

Yup, I remember Exhumed on Saturn. I don't remember PowerSlave. lol PowerSlave sounds like something that comes with a latex suit, instructions, and a safe word. _( 0_o )_

28th of October 2003 - Tony Hawks Underground is released on NGC, PS2 and XB in the U.S. Amped 2 is released on XB and XIII is released on PS2.

28th of Oct 2008 - Fallout 3 is released on PS3, 360 and PC. The collectors and Survival edition are also released on the same Platforms.

29th of October 2013 - Assassins Creed 4 And battlefield 4 are released on PS3 and 360

29th of Oct 2003 - Call of Duty is released on PC\

29th of Oct 2001 - Halflife is released on PS2

29th of Oct 2004 - Grand theft Auto San Andreas is released in Europe (Worldwide)

29th of Oct 2009 - GTA Epsiodes from Liberty City is released on 360 in the U.S

30th of Oct 2012 - Assassins creed 3 is released on PS3 and 360,King of Fighters 97 is released on Neo Geo CD in the U.S

The obvious stand out here is Fallout 3, this is also the game that encouraged me to play more 360 the PS3. Not sure about the rest of you but FF12 was a let down for me, being and Avid fan since FF3 the formula shouldn't have changed imo. Call of Duty?
What a massive franchise that has turned in to. Also, it seems to be GTA month with allot coming out for October.

I still need to try Fall Out 3. I eventually got into Fall Out: New Vegas and I loved it.

I think the Canis Canem Edit is a term more used in American schooling. Yes it's Latin but they also use terms like Magna *** Laude in universities. Canis Canem Edit means dog eat dog, which made a lot of sense for the Bully game and what the school was
all about.

But overall all, Bully was an easier title to market, plus it brought Rockstar free press because of the theme.

^^ Ha ha. I love that it censored that. I guess nobody imagined there was a legit, above board reason to use the word c*m. Magna Cu* Laude just reminds me of TS2 University.

I've since read more about it and apparently the title change wasn't forced. It was all Rockstar, and when asked why they chose Canis Canem Edit, they refused to comment.

Fallout 3 - awesome game. It was responsible for my selling my first 360 and building a gaming PC rig. I played the crap out of it on 360 but it had game-breaking moments... I just had to play it on the best platform for it... with some minor mods. {XD

FoomBerry - Tbh I never finished New Vegas, I found Fallout 3's content to be more interesting. I think playing NV before F3 would probably work out better. Also, the game was a complete Copy/Paste of Oblivion and I absolutely loved Oblivion.

If I was Rockstar, it would have been because of marketing and maybe as Agron said before, a bit of publicity. I'm not commenting on this anymore, back to gaming history!

Does anyone else read this threads title in stereotypical 50's news voice? Haha.

You know, I've only played Fallout 3 and it was one of those games I started and felt like way too much to comprehend at the time so dropped it for months. Once I finally got into it though, it was so good! I think it was even my first Bethesda title! I
still need to go back and do the DLC's.

There's allot for today being the 6th, But there's too much already. November is a notorious month for game releases. COD 4 stands out for me since I played it on 360 and PS3, never got the plane hijack achievement. This is when COD started to shine, the
next 3 releases where equal in quality imo. I had to mention True Crimes since the definitive Sleeping dogs has recently been released. Resident Evil 2 anyone? I bought Biohazard 2 from a Supermarket in Hong Kong, it wasn't an original,,,,

That's my point though, in my opinion a title should have some kind of meaning before you play it and there's huge implications to having the right title for your game in a marketing sense.

At least with Bully I imagine the game is based around a child in a school, it doesn't necessarily mean you're the bully yourself. The other title means absolutely nothing to majority of the world.

Again, Metal Gear Solid makes me imagine a game that has some fairly hectic moments throughout, like an action title.

Psychonauts makes me think of psycho astronauts (I have no idea what the game is about, haha).

Canis Canem Edit, just makes me go wut? If it was actually 'It's a Dog Eat Dog World', I would get that because school is much like that. So we'll have to agree to disagree on this one my friend. Latin title = fail for me.

You forgot about the 26th of October: the 10th anniversary of GTA: San Andreas released on the PlayStation 2 with at least 27.5 million copies sold on that one console alone. 10 years later, they've re-released it on the Xbox Marketplace with 720p, Achievements
and the enhancements from the mobile versions. Little late, but can't believe it's not up there.
