this new UI really is just horrible....

You do know that they are using all those cores, right? DX12 doesn't magically unlock anything, it just makes the communication more efficient.

 

Xbox has magical cores lol

GG its like with the brain we use it all just not all for the thinking most is to make the body work arms and legs and stuff you know.

Same with Xbox but yeah you can train it like a brain and make it smarter and faster.

Rather than start a new post, thought I'd reply here and hope someone at MS pays attention.

- no way to sort messages. i.e. by user, date, read/unread, etc... without going into unnecessary detail, this is not a difficult feature for coders to implement!

- messages are sorted oldest first which makes it a real pain to have a conversation with someone you msg a lot... you have to scroll down a huge page of month old messages to see the latest in the thread.

- there is no clear indication of read and unread messages

...and the list goes on - these are just the three most blaring shortfalls. A new UI was definitely needed, but did anyone really think this through before public release?!

 

Not everyone loves Windows 8. I know unread messages on 360 are in bold. Voice Messaging has yet to come out on Xbox 1 for everyone. One thing I dislike about messages on Xbox 1 is whenever you open it up, the UI strictly only opens it up on a narrow right
screen pane. I can't find the option to go full screen with messages (if the option exists). That's what I love about the 360 UI. It's not some PC OS dumped onto a console. It's simple and it works. If you really don't like it, you can protest (ok, give feedback)
about it on the official feedback site here. Everyone can be forgiven about how we give feedback and discuss. After all, Microsoft has had A LOT of dislikes and likes and feedback about the system. Since Xbox 1 launched November 2013, Microsoft has to make
the console to be what we want, not what they want and not listen to the public's feedback.

 

The 360 is so clumsy compared to the X1.... it amazes me people liked the 360 navigation.

Wow, um okay... Last time I checked messages are sorted newest to oldest by friend (and since messages are generally time-sensitive, this makes absolute sense - and nothing else does) and you'll see a little # icon on the top left of their gamerpic that
shows whether you received any new message(s) from them or not. Once you open it up, you have an entire history of any previous messages you sent back and forth that is viewed as a simple conversation (which you can choose to delete at any time). These "conversations"
do read from oldest to newest, but when opened ALWAYS takes you straight to the newest reply, whether it's from you or them.

Please don't post without doing some research 1st...

 

I have one rather big complaint: pretty much half the time when I'm on the main screen and want to turn off the console by holding the Xbox guide button, the menu to turn off console & controller appears BUT the selection will done under that screen. So
I'm still just selecting between games, store etc. and it refuses to switch to the actual pop up screen. Then I just gotta keep on trying again by holding the Guide button down for a few more seconds and just hope that that time I can actually choose to turn
off the console.

 

Sip, I've had the same thing happen a couple of times, and while annoying, I'm surprised you're complaining about it, because you've already told us the solution, which is to simply hold the Xbox button on your controller down again to refresh the menu.
If you already know how to take care of it, why bring it up?

 

Just try to learn to adapt to it.

I love the 360 UI, it's simple, fast (no going o...o....o... [this kid is referring to the rotating loading symbol] on me), kid friendly, compared to the Windows 8 jargon which kind of performs at Windows Vista speeds sometimes and the UI looks like a UI
middle aged business people would be happy to use. I know what it feels like, I've had the Xbox 1 since Day 1 I even went to the midnight launch at my EB Games store here in NZ. But I do have to say the Xbox 1 UI has come a long way compared to what it was
like at Launch. I know peps on here have seen me mention that I am not in love with a UI, but it's an OK UI. At least you can put a picture on the background of it.

Most of these threads seem to be started by new One users who cant understand why its not a 360 clone.
