I think general idea is:

a) select Xbox forums on top menu

b) in the middle to the right - select See All Forums

c) Mark Follow on forums you are interested in.

Or navigate into one of the shown to find further detailed forum - and follow that.

I think general idea is as Playstation forum - you can follow Games and browse any threads regarding games.

Or you can choose to follow one or a couple of specific games forums and browse just for that game.

Standard on forums otherwise is that subforums are browsed each forthemselves.

So thinking is not bad regarding this.

Major problems are:

a) that you have no idea where you are once at a forum - I mean where in hierarchy.

It was so convenient with a bar for links to click yourself to any level.

b) performance - programmers has no clue how to program a MMO forum so that view is imminent - not wait 10-30s for every view to appear.

c) don't fancy the delayed scrollbar at bottom - also very slow - much better with fixed 20 or 30 threads on a page and move to next.

d) major drawback that Discussion and Support is always default Discussion - you cannot bookmark and always go direct to Support.

e) don't get why editing is double row linebreaks and normal linebreak is quadruple linefeeds - always been like this.

 

This new update with the forums may be a bit hard to find some things but it is 10x better then before.

So, did mods delete a few posts in this thread for no good reason, or is this new system just randomly deleting posts now as well? Either scenario seems just as likely...

 

Think even the mods have given up on this place.Posts that were reported several days ago are still unchanged.

They may as well just shut this place down if this is the best they can do as it's even more dead than it was before.

 

I haven't seen this much crying about a forum update since the last forum update. Lol... The absence of some posters has made it even better in my eyes.

 

We can see the front end of this place is pretty bad, I can't imagine the backend of it is any better.

You have to wonder what the new mod tools are like. I expect they are as bad as the front end.

 

I have no problem with finding things on the forums which goes to shows its easy to find stuff because I found your post, take some time to browse what is new and you should not have a problem.

 

Once you look around for a bit and see how they work it's not too difficult to find things. There are still some things that need to be fixed and they will be. My only real complaint is the loading times.

The forums'll get better.

 

Agree - page load are silly slow - still after almost a month from release. 10-30s at least.

Same when scrolling down a bit - takes forever to load more threads on the forum you are at.

And shifting from viewing my posts back to most recent - most of the time nothing loads at all.

Major flaw by design seems to be that being in Support part of forum - on a thread there is no way to get up a level to support forum again - you always get to discussion, and no way to bookmark that part if you feel like that. It should be a link on Support
or Discussion - like normal forums have so you have an idea where in hierarchy you are.

Still there are 2-3 various unfollowed forums listed among my followed. Over time these have shifted - don't know what that is about.

Seems programmer staff are rookies all the way through, and the skilled people moved to Microsoft Studios or something.

I have the same feeling over Live and also firmware for 360 and X1 - not very experienced devs doing that either.

 

Without an overhaul of the underlying software it is hard to see how they will get better, barring a redesign that is.

Go to forums.xbox.com and you have to wait for the page to load, then you wait for the suggested boards to load, then you click on see all forums and once again wait for a page to load, then you can start scrolling for the board you want, if it is Zumba Fitness
you've got a lot of scrolling to do. You can't even CTRL+F to find what you want because the full page does not load.

For a new visitor to this site it is very user unfriendly. It's not so bad when you have everything you want bookmarked or followed, but the same problems occur if you want to go to a new section. People who have been members for a while will want to try and
push through the poor design because they have fostered relationships with the community here, for a new person though...well there is a reason the #iDARB board is getting a lot of unrelated posts.

The load times are the big issue though. I come to this Xbox One board and I have to wait for the page to load, then I can enter a thread but only the first post appears and I have to wait for the page to load. Perhaps the most important thing on any website,
but especially a discussion forum, is minimizing load times. Microsoft seem to have designed a system to add extra load times.

Oh and why do posts take so much time to appear in threads? I go to any other forum and post and my reply appears instantly. Here though I can be waiting five minutes or more before my response appears, hardly good for fostering conversations.
