Via the 360, wich I use for most everything these days, including IE. I go to watch Major Nelsonjs ad on the 360 homepage and it links to Youtube... Where you have to 'conf your age'??

Meaning I cant watch it unless I prove to Google that I am actually old enough to sleep by myself.

You know it isn't hard to create a Gmail account which is all you need to prove your age.

 

I have one, I just don't wish to link every social account I have ever made into one.

What I mustn't understand is how it works on the console, don't you just provide your email and password and you're signed-in? No linking of anything required?

That's how it works on the PC for me, I've never linked anything to my gmail account and I can just automatically sign-in to youtube.

I pay for XBL services, and Google via XBL has a Youtube App on XBL, which no matter what I watch WANTS me to link said App to Google. And I simply will not do it.

Had I known that Major Nelson's ad on the 360's homepage was linked to Youtube, I would have never even navigated my 360 controller to it.

'Prove your age' - I am far too into my age to have to prove to anyone that i'm neither dead nor dying. (Figure of speech) Least not dead anyway!

 

So the real issue is not that it wants you to prove your age, but rather it wants you to link to the app. It's weird they don't have another way to prove your age like when downloading the app you agree to your age or something.

I'm not a fan of this either really because they always have these 'app permissions' which allow access to weird things like your messages and stuff which freaks me out a little.

 

youtube and the youtube app is owned by google, you want to watch it you have to sign in or link the youtube app to your google account, using netflix requires you to login and it auto registers the app your using to your account, like with many other apps,
if you don't like it then don't use it, if you watch youtube on the pc you still have to login to prove your age which then registers your pc to your google account.

 

Why wouldn't you want to log into your YouTube account?! It makes it so much easier. I can put videos I want to watch into the "Watch Later" folder, or I can check my Subscriptions super easy if I log in.

 

Far: "Prove your age by linking your social media accounts." Should not be a requirement in this, or any Universe.

Netflix is a paid service and I do "log in" from time to time, but it requires no linking of accounts in order to do it.

Egg: Why should I have to do that? I use my PC for "logging in" but I do not WANT any other services. Paid, or unpaid, Including XBL. Associated with ANY social media account such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit etc etc etc.

That being said, I found out that the Major Nelson ad I navigated to via the 360 Homepage was set up that way by Xbox itself. So google blames Xbox for requiring such things as this. Imagine that!
