This is a good move by Microsoft

I think it'll be a very long time, if ever until console gaming changes the way Microsoft had originally envisioned with the Xbox One at first last year.

 

There are many different views on this.

Mine is that I'm glad more friends will purchase the console at a lower price, especially once they see how much better the XB1 Lineup is for the rest of the year.

Some people feel that the removal of Kinect will effect the life of the device, that some devs may not bother. I'm sure most 3rd parties who have to create for other platforms as well may not of even bothered to begin with. 1st party studios can still progress.

Then there are the kids who think this somehow is killing the Xbox, which is just as ridiculous as their rants they spew on these forums.

Competition breeds demand & choices.

 

I think they are on the right lines, if they introduced AR or something similar it would make more sense

 

Mad Cow: I think it is a shame; I'd like to have that kind of innovation sooner rather than later.

 

This move is getting me to get an xb1 later this year when I have money saved up for one.

 

The less gimmicks, the better. I like more focus on games and less on all the frills and sequins. The apps can go too as far as I'm concerned. It would be nice if you could just delete the apps you don't want. Can you do that? If they would allow that,
I might buy it for Christmas.

 

^^The apps you dont want then dont download them. Same as iOS and Android.

 

I think caving for cash and forsaking the technological advancements made possible by the Kinect will doom the Kinect. The same thing happened (minus the mandatory purchase) with the Kinect 1.0. I think if they had included the Kinect 1.0 with the 360 the
2.0 would have been more palatable. Maybe in 10 years when the 3.0 comes out the technology with be more polished and more widely accepted.

I understand the bottom line is the goal. I find that sad.
